WOW, it was a steamy one today! Still, 39 people came out (6 youth included) to clean the beach. Some hustled down to the John’s Pass Bridge where there had been a lot of trash reported .. great job! Our new young pals Oonagh and sister Odelle came where Oonagh showed me her school report on turtles. She could have given the turtle talk we had today ( come back next month Oonagh and I’ll give you the mic!!). thanks,Bill, for the beach photos and Nancy and Alyssa our Beach Ambassadors extra efforts!

Celebrating Clyde Smith, recipient of the 2026 Tourism Person of the Year by Tampa Bay Beaches Chamber. Clyde, GM at the Bilmar and Sloppy Joe’s has supported for years. From educational in-room turtle cards, native plantings, beach bucket station, cigarette dispensers, take-a-toy/leave-a-toy box.

Two Turtle Talks! 🐢💚

A huge thank you to Caddy’s and Katiki for hosting me to share important information about sea turtle nesting and hatching. Their staff truly are the eyes on the beach: arriving early and staying late into the night when turtles are most active.

Did you know these two businesses employ well over 100 people combined? That’s a lot of boots on the sand, and having a team that knows what to do when turtles become disoriented, how to educate visitors, and who to call for help is absolutely crucial.

Thank you for caring, learning, and helping protect our turtles! 🌙🐢
