The Bear’s Den disc golf course at Kingsley Civic Center South has seen some great improvements recently! We worked with the park to coordinate fairway cleanup, while volunteers limbed fairways and around greens, and built a retaining wall on Hole 13 to help reduce washouts on the tee.

Thank you to the park for partnering with us on these improvements, and to everyone who supports our mission and volunteers their time.

The Traverse City High School disc golf course got a nice refresh thanks to an awesome group of volunteers!

We installed tee signs, added navigational arrows to the baskets, and cleaned up fairways and greens to improve the overall player experience.

Originally established in 2006, the course has grown from portable baskets into a permanent beginner-friendly layout that’s perfect for learning the game and practicing short approaches.

A huge thank you to everyone who volunteered their time to help make these improvements possible. Your support helps keep our local disc golf courses fun, accessible, and enjoyable for the community!

The Bear’s Den disc golf course at Kingsley Civic Center South will be temporarily closed on Thursday, July 23, from 1:00–5:00 PM for course maintenance. Fairway cleanup will take place during this time.

Hickory Hills Update! 🌲 ⛷️ 🥏 🥾 🚲

A conceptual vision for future disc golf development at Hickory Hills will be presented for review at tomorrow’s Hickory Hills Advisory Committee meeting.

Earlier this month, Eric McCabe visited Hickory Hills to provide an on-site consultation and help shape a conceptual vision for future disc golf development. The proposal includes two standalone 18-hole courses, flexible layouts for a range of skill levels, preservation of select historic features where feasible, and integration with future trail planning at the park. This is a concept only and not a final design.

Also included on tomorrow’s agenda is discussion regarding the proposed RFP for mountain bike design and development at Hickory Hills.

Hickory Hills was just ranked the #10 ski area disc golf course in the world in the 2026 UDisc rankings!

The rankings were based on player ratings from more than 300 ski area disc golf courses worldwide.

A huge accomplishment for Traverse City, and a testament to everyone who has helped build, improve, maintain, and support disc golf at Hickory Hills over the years.

Hickory Hills basket install is planned for Tuesday, April 28th! We’re looking for a couple extra hands to help with loading, unloading, and locking baskets in place. Please meet at the lodge at 10am.

Excited to get to work at Traverse City High School, adding tee signs, assisting with general maintenance, and installing navigational signage throughout the course.

Even better, this one comes full circle. The course was originally designed by former student Goose Favela, who’s now helping bring these updates to life.

This project is about more than the course. We’ll be working alongside students and staff to create something they can take pride in, while improving a space that supports growth, connection, and community.
