Founded in 1989, Encore Symphonic Winds brings together about 50 talented amateur musicians from across the seven-county Grand Traverse region. Encore performs four seasonal concerts a year, returning its members’ talents to the community through excellent, entertaining music.

Come practice your guitar in a safe and friendly environment. All skill levels and ages are welcome, though participants should know basic major chords and some minor chords. Other acoustic instruments such as piano, hand drums, or harmonicas are welcome to join in, though instruction focuses on guitar. We practice popular songs from many genres, with lyrics and chords projected on a big screen.

The private Suzuki lesson lies at the heart of the learning process. Because a young child needs structure and support, a parent comes to every lesson, takes notes, and becomes the child’s home practice partner, so the goals of each lesson can be repeated daily at home.
