Area Council on Religious Diversity - ACORD

Area Council on Religious Diversity - ACORD ACORD works for better communication, understanding, trust, respect, and cooperation between our community's many religions and life philosophies.

The Area Council on Religious Diversity (ACORD) was formed in 2006 for the express purpose of helping to build knowledge, understanding, trust, respect, and cooperation within the Grand Traverse area's diverse religious and secular groups and individuals. ACORD members meet in downtown Traverse City on the third Monday of each month between 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m., in a safe, accepting, and mutually

respectful atmosphere, to discuss a wide array of subjects pertaining to building better relations between diverse religious and secular components of our community. ACORD's scope of activities include: (1) Providing a non-adversarial, accepting, and mutually respectful environment in which seriously interested religious and secular members of our community can learn about many different faiths and secular positive life philosophies represented in our community; (2) Developing common sense guidelines to accomplish productive faith, interfaith, and secular discussions; (3) Actively supporting the U.S. Constitution's First Amendment rights concerning freedom of, and from, religion; (4) Actively supporting the separation of church and state.
