As someone who immigrated from México nearly 13 years ago, this hits close to home.

The recent immigration raids in Los Angeles are a painful reminder of the fear, uncertainty, and injustice many of our people face every day, simply for wanting to work, build a life, and provide for their families.

When I came to the U.S., I carried big dreams, determination, and the weight of leaving everything familiar behind. I was scared. I didn’t speak the language fluently. I’m brown, I have an accent, and like so many others, I came here to contribute, to grow, and to build a better future.

That’s one of the reasons I created Mi Comunidad — a space where we can gather, speak Spanish proudly, support one another, and celebrate our culture without fear. A space where we remind each other: no estás solo/a.

If you or someone you know is feeling afraid, isolated, or just in need of community, we’re here. We see you. We support you. And we’ll keep showing up for each other, with dignity and strength.

💀✨ Celebrating Día de los Mu***os ✨💀

Día de los Mu***os, or Day of the Dead, is a vibrant tradition that originated in Mexico and is celebrated from October 27th to November 3rd.

During these days, we honor and remember loved ones who have passed by creating beautiful altars (ofrendas) filled with their favorite foods, drinks, photos, and marigold flowers. This celebration reminds us that our loved ones live on in our hearts and memories. 💐🕯️
