Newton’s Road works with regional partners to leverage the unique characteristics of Northern Michigan’s natural surroundings, knowledgeable workforce, and rich legacy of community involvement to champion, support and increase access to outstanding learning opportunities in the fields of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM Education). We believe that celebrating and investing in STEM Education excellence is essential to the success of individual K-12 learners as well as to our region’s overall economic outlook. Today more than ever, it is critical that we work together as a community to coordinate regional resources in order to meet the challenges presented by the rapidly evolving global economy.

Today, Newtons Road was fortunate enough to meet with kids and work to spark interest in STEM fields of study at the National Cherry Festival Open Ramp event. We had great company for the occasion including staff from NASA Glenn Research Center and even the US Navy Blue Angels! Many thanks to our own Greg Johnson, Christine Roberts, and Bill Myers for braving the weather and helping to inspire young people. ’sGlennResearchCenter

Congratulations to everyone at TCAPS who advocated for these STEM learning facilities that are becoming a reality. In particular, Newton’s Road is appreciative of the support received from Superintendent VanWaggoner and the TCAPS Board of Education. These facilities will better prepare students for the growing number of careers that require STEM skills. Moreover, so many of these jobs are right in our backyard. If you’re not convinced, check out the Newton’s Road Career Investigator: https://www.nwmicareers.org/ This easy-to-navigate online tool allows students, parents and counselors to explore LOCAL career paths with LOCAL employers and the STEM skills that are required for these positions. You can even search to see which employers host tours, offer job shadowing and offer unpaid or paid internships!
