Labor Day Holiday Closure ♻️

BARC will be closed Saturday, September 5 through Tuesday, September 8 for the Labor Day holiday. This includes our Traverse City office, Kaleva office, and Resale Shop.

We’ll be back open and ready to serve you on Wednesday, September 9!

If you have visited our resale shop, dropped off an old mattress, recycled electronics at one of our many events, or worked with us through one of our other sustainability programs, you may already know a piece of the answer. But there is a lot more happening behind the scenes.

That is why we have been inviting businesses, organizations, community partners, and other groups to take a tour of BARC. A tour is an opportunity to see our work in action, learn where materials go after they leave your hands, and discover the many ways BARC can help keep valuable resources in circulation.

A big thank you to for joining us at BARC for a tour!

We loved having the opportunity to show your team what happens behind the scenes and share more about the many ways BARC works to keep materials in use and out of the landfill.

From our resale shop and e-waste processing to mattress recycling, material recovery, and the equipment that makes it all possible, there is a lot more to BARC than what you see from the front door.

Tours like this are one of our favorite ways to connect with local organizations, share what we do, and explore how we can work together to create a more sustainable community.

Leelanau County E-Waste Events Are Back! ♻️

After taking a few months off for the summer, we are happy to announce that E-Waste Collection Days are back starting this Saturday August 22nd in Glen Lake.

BARC has partnered with eRecycleTC to provide free electronic waste collection for Leelanau County residents, funded by the Leelanau County PA-69 Tax.

This week, we had the pleasure of welcoming the Culver's team to our Kaleva facility!

During their visit, we shared how our electronic recycling program responsibly processes e-waste, demonstrated how mattresses are recycled and repurposed, and gave them a tour of our Kaleva Resale Shop, where gently used items are given a second life.

It was a wonderful opportunity to showcase the many ways recycling, reuse, and sustainability come together at BARC. Thank you to the Culver's team for taking the time to learn more about our mission.

In Northern Michigan, artists are inspired by the landscape, the community, and the resources around us.
