Dear Friends and Colleagues,

Patricia and I are announcing that the Tusen Takk Foundation and its open-call artist residency program will conclude on December 31, 2025.

We founded the Tusen Takk Foundation as a heartfelt expression of gratitude to God—for the extraordinary gifts of artists, writers, and composers, and for the profound beauty, truth, and joy they bring into the world through their creations. What started as a simple act of thanksgiving blossomed over five years into something far more wondrous than we could have imagined. We welcomed 42 remarkable resident and guest artists into these studios, witnessing the creation of works that illuminated the human spirit and added genuine beauty to our world. We remain profoundly grateful to each of them—for their talent, their trust, and the glimpses they shared of their lives and creative processes.

Our deepest thanks go to Maggie Pavao, the Foundation’s assistant director, and our son, Tom Peckham, the property manager. Maggie’s masterful administration, combined with her warm, genuine care for every artist, made each residency feel like a true homecoming. Tom’s quiet dedication in preparing the studios and grounds reflected a profound thoughtfulness that touched everyone who came here. Together, their passion for the arts—and above all, for the people who create it—perfectly embodied the spirit of gratitude in which the Foundation was born.

Though it is bittersweet to end the Foundation and its open-call residency program, the Tusen Takk Press will continue as an independent endeavor, preserving and extending the rich creative dialogues that have made this place so special. To stay connected, I warmly invite you to join me on a new bi-weekly Substack column, Resonance In the Making—it’s free! Here, I'll delve into the making of art—especially photography—with short, richly illustrated essays that promise occasional humor and reflections on modest topics, like the nature of matter and its ties to the meaning of existence.

Resonance In the Making’s inaugural column features former Tusen Takk Foundation resident artist Vaune Trachtman's extraordinary book, Now Is Always—a new publication from the Tusen Takk Press. Seriously, this is one of the finest photography books ever created, and its story of a collaboration across time is truly inspiring.

From the depths of my heart, thank you for your encouragement these past five years. I hope you'll join me in this next chapter!

With deepest gratitude,

Geoffrey Peckham
Director, Tusen Takk Foundation

We’re delighted to host Letha Wilson (.wilson) in residence this November/December!

In Letha’s work, the ability of a photograph to transport the viewer is both called upon, and questioned; sculptural interventions attempt to compensate for the photograph’s failure to encompass the physical site it represents.

Letha is working on multiple projects while at Tusen Takk. To prepare for an upcoming show, she is creating small-scale models of wall-based and freestanding sculptures. She is also working on her Re-Photogram series, which starts with analog darkroom prints that move into the studio, where she plays with cutting, ripping, folding and tearing the surface; then re-photographing.

Grateful for a peak into artist-in-residence Fritz Horstman’s process as he heads into the final week of his residency! The studio is full of new works in cyanotype, each first folded into intricate patterns and exposed using the sun’s shadows to create incredible dimension.
