Our members are showing their purple pinkies in support of a polio-free world!

During vaccination campaigns, purple ink marks a child’s pinkie to show they’ve received the polio vaccine. Our painted pinkies honor that symbol as World Polio Day approaches on October 24.

This week, we heard a powerful firsthand account of the response at Ground Zero.

Our guest speaker, Liz Arioto of Stockton Sunrise Rotary, is a certified safety and environmental specialist who served as a major contributor to the response at Ground Zero.

Through her personal story and photographs from that historic response, Liz gave our members a powerful look at the people, conditions and experiences behind the work.

Her visit also reflects Day 26 of the Rotary in Focus challenge: “26 + 27,” which celebrates connections with Rotarians from other clubs and across our paired Zones.

Then and now.

Years ago, Tracy Sunrise Rotary welcomed Sanket from India as a 13-year-old exchange student. What began as a Rotary Youth Exchange connection became a lasting friendship, and our club has remained in touch with him through the years.

Now, Sanket is pictured with his wife Ekta—a reminder that Rotary connections can span years and miles.

Liz was a major contributor to the response at Ground Zero and will share her personal story and experiences from that time.

A small act can make a big difference.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Tracy Sunrise Rotary helped support the donation of 5,000 masks to help protect people in our community at Sutter Tracy Community Hospital.

Rotary Club of Tracy Sunrise making sure 210 more boys and girls in the community are able to begin their studies with the traditional school backpack and essential school supplies.

Contributions from Tracy Sunrise Rotarians to the Rotary International Foundation is the seed money for this charitable donation. What we send in today to the Rotary International comes back as a prorated amount of funds three years later, money to be used as a global grant or community project. Matching funds by the grantee club must be paid for any community project. Craig Mizuno
