A beloved tradition,
two radiant performances:
Handel’s Messiah

Join us this holiday season for an experience unlike any other: Messiah with the baroque instruments Handel intended. The Handel Period Instrument Orchestra brings to you the most unique sounds of the season, alongside four dazzling soloists and the nuanced choral singing of Maryland's oldest continually-singing oratorio society... The Handel Choir of Baltimore.

NEW this year: both performances are matinees!

Kinda chic to be a patron of The Handel Choir.

This post is trendy but Handel's Messiah defies all trends, fads, styles, eras, and media crazes... a piece that has been continually performed every year since it's inception in 1740, by thousands of musicians across decades and continents.

Be a part of OUR Messiah tradition, unbroken since 1935 here in Baltimore: purchase your season tickets today to our upcoming season and join us for our 92nd Messiah.

Come early to the period instrument zoo and learn something new. Mingle with fellow arts lovers at intermission. Stand up and sing along to every word of the Hallelujah chorus with us. Marvel at our quartet of soloists. Find out why Messiah is the least trendy thing you can add to your schedule... because trends pass, but a performance of Messiah is a cherished experience for 276 years and counting!

Many things have changed in the last decade...
Too many to name in this post. One thing that has NOT changed is Handel Choir’s adventurous spirit. Handel Choir’s unique repertoire. Handel Choir’s... coolness, you might say.

In fact, in 2016 prominent Baltimore arts critic Tim Smith did say exactly this. “Listening to the Talbot work unfold at the Baltimore Basilica, I got the distinct impression that this ensemble has become the cool chorus in town.” - Handel Choir excels in Baltimore premiere of ‘Path of Miracles,’ The Baltimore Sun. (Linked in our story!)

Where and when can you hear this cool choir?

Tomorrow at St. Mark’s Lutheran church at 3pm, as we present our season finale:
Audacity, Electrified.
It will be cool.
We’ll see you there.

How many percussion instruments can you spy in this picture??

There’s more out of frame, too! We can’t wait to bring to life Schnittke’s powerful Requiem and Bernstein’s exuberant Chichester Psalms with this incredible ensemble. Don’t miss out on this absolutely electrifying afternoon with us this weekend. Tickets are available at handelchoir.org/25-26-season

05/06/2026

This Saturday! Join us in the Arts District for a glorious afternoon of sights and sounds. Schnittke’s raucous Requiem and Bernstein’s jubilant Chichester Psalms anchor a program of colorful music, to include Ayanna Woods’ percussion work Double Drum Dutch for an extra dose of excitement for all.

In-person and livestream tickets are still available at handelchoir.org/25-26-season
