Larry's Ride - October 8th Baltimore County

Larry's Ride is Less Than One Month Away

Larry's Ride is less than one month away, as one of our supporters we'd like to offer you a $5 discount on registration.

Larry's Ride is named for Larry Bensky was struck by a car and killed while bicycling on Butler Road, near Falls Road, in Baltimore County in 2010. It is a beautiful ride on country roads through scenic Baltimore County.

There's a route for everyone. Larry's Ride features 15, 25, 35 and 66 mile routes with well-stocked rest stops and a fantastic post-ride cookout.

Larry's Ride is Bike Maryland's primary fundraising ride. Proceeds from Larry's Ride fund our advocacy and safety work. We had some great successes in Annapolis this past legislative session, we would like to be able to build upon those. Without funds from Larry's Ride, our work cannot continue, please support our work by registering and riding.

The Baltimore Metropolitan Council sponsors the 19th annual Bike to Work Day in the Baltimore region on Friday, May 20, 2016. The celebration will include hundreds of cyclists at over 30 events at locations around the region.

In addition, a B2WD After Party will be held from 4:30 to 6 p.m. at the Handlebar Café, located at 511 S Caroline St, Baltimore, MD 21231.

These springtime rides will be a great way to get back on your bike just in time for Bike Month. Make it a Baltimore Bike Weekend by participating in Baltimore Bike Party the evening before.

The Routes

This event will feature two routes from last year's Tour du Port, both starting from Baltimore's newest cycling cafe The HandleBar Cafe. All routes will feature rest stops, SAG support and an after party at the HandleBar Cafe.
•14 mile - Harbor Loop - If you enjoy a leisure spin around the harbor through downtown, Federal Hill, Locust Point and Canton, this route is for you. This is a great route for novice cyclists.
•36 mile - Urban Adventure Offroad - If you're a mountain biker or cyclocross rider, you'll enjoy this route that takes you through rarely biked corners of Baltimore City following streets and natural surface trails.
•38 mile - Urban Adventure Road Route - This parallel road route is suitable for narrower tires! You'll still ride through rarely biked corners of Baltimore City following streets but not the natural surface trails.

Bike Ride Sunday, October 18, 10 AM

Looks like Sunday will be a bit on the cool side, with 40s at the start, but we have several riders who want to do the ride from Weber's Farm, leaving at 10am.

Weber's is kinda fun at this time of the year because you can load your car with autumn vegetables, apples, apple cider, and pies at the end of the ride. Or, take a hay ride if that appeals.

The cue sheet can be sent to you. Not sure how it will play out, but there are 21, 26, and 30 mi options. Directions to Weber's is on the sheet.
