REIMAGINE AGING
For more than 80 years now, Boggess and Long have lived near each other in and around D.C. They credit their longevity to their connection of friendship.

What is your longest friendship? Give a shoutout to your friend in the comments.

Velma Long and Dorothy Boggess were born in 1917 and became friends at age 23, during World War II.

engAGE: A Day of Sharing Meals and Building Connections 💙
Thursday, September 10, 2026

Everyone can make a difference in the life of an older adult—and there are three simple ways to get involved!

🍽️ Encourage an older adult to join us. Invite an older adult you know to participate in the special engAGE programming at their local senior center. It’s a wonderful opportunity to enjoy a meal, connect with others and build new friendships. To find a local center, call 410-887-2040.

🥗 Share a meal with someone who may be isolated. Invite an older adult to join you for a meal at one of our participating restaurant partners offering special meal discounts during engAGE. Visit County website below to see specials.

🤝 Host a gathering. Organizations, businesses, community groups and others can host a gathering of older adults within their network on September 10. Bring people together for a meal, conversation and connection—and help make sure no one feels alone. Register at link below as a partner.

Whether you invite someone to a senior center, share a meal, or bring a group together, your invitation can help an older adult feel connected, valued and remembered.

Let’s make connection part of every day. ❤️
