🐦🌙 BIRD SURGE TONIGHT!

A big night with the Cornell Lab Birdcast estimating 377 MILLION birds are expected to migrate across the United States overnight tonight into early Wednesday morning.

The bright yellow and white colors on this map show the highest concentration of migration activity as millions of birds ride favorable winds northward during peak spring migration season.

Mild temps and light winds will help…

💡 HOW YOU CAN HELP:
• Turn off unnecessary outdoor lights tonight
• Reduce bright decorative lighting if possible
• Watch for birds around windows early tomorrow morning

Many of these travelers are heading toward breeding grounds across the Mid-Atlantic, Northeast, and Canada.

👀 You may even hear nighttime flight calls overhead after sunset if you step outside in a quiet area!

📍Have you noticed more birds lately where you live?

May Harry’s memory be a blessing. Harry supported our association with sponsorships of our newsletter and also donated to the Towson Fireworks.

Today we received the picture of a man we didn't expect to be putting on our remembrance wall so soon. A man who was, is and will forever be Loved by many. All of us here at The Firehouse Tavern will Never Forget Harry and the lives he touched and the people he mentored. He will be missed. R.I.P.

If the county has been unable to collect the trash from your alley, Councilman Ertel has arranged for a temporary drop-off site here in the community. The Department of Public Works will deploy a staffed dumpster from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Thursday, February 5 at the Loch Raven Community Center – 1801 Glen Keith, Towson, MD. This is for one day only.

The dumpster will be staffed by DPW personnel and is intended only for household trash that could not be collected due to impassable alley conditions. Bulk waste will not be accepted at this location.

This temporary measure with the dumpster is designed solely to assist residents who were directly impacted by the storm-related access issues.

Please do not hesitate to call Councilman Ertel's office if you have any questions at 410-887-3388.

Please stay off the roads and only travel if it is absolutely necessary!

: Maryland State Troopers continue to ensure public safety across the state. So far, troopers have received nearly 600 calls for service and responded to 34 crashes.

Snow emergency plans for the entire state remain in effect until further notice. We encourage motorists to avoid travel unless absolutely necessary.

If you absolutely have to travel - for your safety and the safety of emergency personnel:
- Clear ALL snow from your vehicle and headlights before driving. If you can’t see, you can’t drive!
- Alert someone to where you are going. Give yourself time to get there.
- Do not crowd the plow. Give them space to work.

Follow roads.maryland.gov for the latest road conditions and stay weather aware.
