Help us welcome the newest member of our team, puppy Dormach aka “Mach” who is giant schnoodle, from Pierce Schnoodle. Mach is a cousin to operational K9 Fenris and will be trained by handler Mackenzie. This little cutie loves splashing in kiddie pools, chasing his toys, “helping” Mackenzie garden and annoying his cousin Fenris. Welcome to the team, Mach!

We enjoyed meeting all the different breeds of dogs at our Nosework trial this past weekend! It was held at our new trial site, Oldfields School in Sparks Glencoe, Maryland! The weather was a little warm at times for both dogs and humans, but we were able to offer indoor crating and indoor bathrooms to our competitors! Many thanks to Jackie Reardon for making this happen, to our many volunteers that helped the trial run smoothly, and to our certifying official, Jen Johnson for setting fun hides for the K9s!@

Please join us in congratulating handler Shirlee and K9 Huxley who successfully attained their NASAR K9 Human Remain Detection certification yesterday despite the heat and humidity. These two are now to our newest deployable K9 HRD team! Way to go Shirlee and Huxley!

Fun fact: K9 Echo (blue merle border collie), operational cadaver dog with Chesapeake Search Dog has a full sibling, K9 Pippin (black and white border collie), who is an operational cadaver K9 with Mid-Atlantic DOGS Search & Rescue. The two recently were deployed on the same search. There were lots of pretty Spring flowers that day so of course photos were taken!

There is no easy way to share the news of a loving partner gone unexpectedly and way to soon.

EOW May 19 2026

Windmill Farms Seagram Van der Robb CGC TKN SAR-W, welped June 2, 2023 in Logan, Utah. A special boy, his father Reggie, is from the UK and his mother Brook from Utah. Seags was born shot out of a cannon, ready to go and eager to learn. He loved new adventures, running through the woods to find people, or following his handler up the ladder to help work on the roof. He never had a bad day, he loved every moment of his very short life to his fullest. Whether it was doing tricks for treats, or catching his frisbees, his favorite activity was searching for the lost and the missing, and playing with his sqeeky spikey balls as a reward. Since getting operational in October of 2025, Seagram deployed to 7 searches, his first was less than 24 hours after becoming operational. He played hard, and loved even harder. Now Seags will run free with Nate’s first partner, Fitz, and all of the other great search dogs who have given us the gift of their joy.

We lost a special, precious teammate today. Our hearts go out to his grieving handler and best friend, Nate, and the rest of his loving family, Sally and his fur siblings Watson and Broccoli.

Play hard in heaven, Seagram, you will truly be missed by us all.

Did you know we conduct evening training sessions as well as daytime training sessions? We also train in all weather, as long as the conditions are safe for human and K9 team members. This is important because many of our critical searches are at night or in inclement weather. We train as we search to ensure K9s, handlers, and flankers are ready to deploy in any condition! The attached photo of some of our handlers, flankers and trainees was taken at last Thursday night’s training session.
