Hello Everyone,

On April 21st, Dr. Rick Kanaski of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Services and Dr. Kurt Knoerl of Georgia Southern University will be presenting their recent research and mappings of several Gullah sites around the Savannah area. This includes the mapping of Tiger Bluff, which included the Timmons Family Home and the Timmons Oyster Factory, which were owned by William and Frances Timmons. William and Frances Timmons owned approximately 312 acres of land and marsh at Tiger Bluff. The Timmons Oyster Factory and the Timmons Family Home were mainstays in the original Harris Neck Community until the 1942 Diaspora.

The event will take place at the Jepson Center for the Arts in Savannah, GA at 6 PM EST.

The address for this location is 207 W York St, Savannah, GA 31401.

October 30, 2021

It has been one year since the Direct Descendants of Harris Neck and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service signed the Memorandum of Understanding.

As said during the 1 year anniversary celebration, this has been a very fruitful and wonderful partnership, and we’re excited to continue this partnership and accomplish the goals that we have set for Harris Neck for years to come.
