Last night, Metropolitan Ambrosios of Korea and Fr. Perry celebrated Salutations with us! Afterwards, during our coffee reception, our guests explained the significance of our mission in Korea and His Eminence shared stories of His experience there. Yesterday, Philoptochos served a meal of fried chicken, mashed potatoes, coleslaw, biscuit, and apple pie with ice cream to FOCUS. The day was beautiful, and the hall was filled with guests. Serving them was a joy and a privilege.
To quote one of our guests, who quoted Denzel Washington, "At the end of the day, it's not about what you have or even what you've accomplished. It's about who you've lifted up, who you've made better. It's about what you've given back". Which Reminded us all of the Gospel Reading yesterday of the paralytic man (Luke 5:17-26) which teaches us that faith, supported by community, overcomes impossible obstacles.
Thank you to all the volunteers who worked hard to serve this meal! A big thank you to Keve and John Gialouris who led this event!

Despite the heavy rain, 45+ women joined us for our membership appreciation brunch! This year, we honored older members who had contributed significantly over the years! Very heartwarming being with generations of Philoptochos women dedicated to philanthropy!! Thank you to everyone who came out and everyone who helped to make this event such a success!!

On Friday, January 1, 2026, Philoptochos hosted a cocktail hour for our members and the Hellenic Organizations to welcome His Eminence Metropolitan Nathanael of Chicago. It was a wonderful event of socializing and enjoying delicious appetizers and drinks. We are so appreciative of the honor to host His Eminence at our church.

Today Philoptochos had our Christmas party! We celebrated a year serving our church and our community together! In addition to several mothers and daughters we had several three generations of women members present! Of course the day ended with our ‘rob your neighbor’ game! Have a happy and healthy New Year everyone!
