Special Families of Butler County Kansas

Special Families of Butler County Kansas A parent to parent program assisting families and their special needs children with information and support though our programs.

We are a United Way partner agency serving Butler County, Kansas. In the fall of 1984, parents and professionals realized the need for a support program in Butler County. They joined together and founded Special Families of Butler County. We are a program of the United Methodist Church of Augusta, Kansas, and part of the Parent to Parent Network of Kansas. Funding for our program comes from El Dor

ado United Way, Trimble Trust, El Dorado Charities Auxiliary, and other local grants. We currently run a Lending Library where parents, teachers, and therapists can check out various equipment and educational tools to try before purchasing or to use within their classroom. In the Lending Library, you will also find information and resources for additional services throughout our area. In the summer we offer a Summer Program for at risk youth in the El Dorado and Augusta areas. This program provides speech services in the Augusta location and special education services for elementary children. In addition to the Lending Library and the Summer Program we also provide limited medical grants to children and families with special needs.

Please Continue to Call!

Call your member of Congress on March 5, 2026, to tell them you oppose moving special education out of the U.S. Department of Education.

Families Together, Inc. is joining other disability groups across the country in a National Call-In Day opposing moving the administration of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) from the U.S. Department of Education to a different federal agency. While there is not an announced date for this move, federal officials have indicated their intent to make this change.

You can help by calling your U.S. Senators and Representatives (see below), and urge them to tell the U.S. Department of Education not to move special education programs such as the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) out of the Education Department. (Please call rather than email to have the most impact on this call-in day!). Use the numbers below or call the Capitol Switchboard at 202-224-3121.
