Why do we need PEDIATRIC urgent care?

Tonight I saw a child that was seen by a well known general (ADULT) urgent care not moving his arm. They took X-rays, told the parents it was broken, did NOT give pain meds, did NOT put h in a splint and did NOT put him in a sling, and did NOT help them figure out who to see next. So the dad brought the child here to PM Pediatric Care. We reviewed the outside XRay, (avoiding extra radiation) did not see any fracture and then I reduced the simple nursemaid’s elbow.

As a parent of a child with ADHD, I know how challenging some situations may be. Both for the child and the whole family. Even as a medical family ( my wife Alexandra McCollum-Sherman and I are both physicians) we still have had many questions and needed to do a lot of reading. It is our pleasure to endorse this amazing FREE webinar from the PM Pediatric Care Behavioral Health Team:

LAPS History

The Los Angeles Pediatric Society was organized January 19, 1934 as the Pediatric Section of the Los Angeles County Medical Association. There were 47 charter members. In 1970, the society withdrew from its association with the Los Angeles County Medical Association and became an independent organization. Today, with over 1000 members, it is the oldest and largest independent pediatric society in the world. Membership is open to all pediatricians and allied health professionals. Members from outside of California are affiliate members.

The society sponsors a number of annual meetings, including the Annual Brennemann Memorial Lectures (started in 1944) and Annual Parmelee Memorial Lecture (started in 1962).

The Eve and Gene Black Summer Medical Career Program provides high school juniors and seniors the opportunity to experience first-hand what it is like to work in a medical profession.
