While it might look like a quirky tradition from the outside, this legendary cow dates back many years for a specific reason: it is the ultimate icebreaker!

Carrying it sparks instant conversations and opens doors with attendees who might have never approached you otherwise.Much like trading our event pins, "The Cow" helps our young members and first-time conference-goers break the ice, smash through awkward networking barriers, and build professional connections they wouldn’t have made anywhere else.

To our first-timers: embrace the tradition, carry the cow with pride, and watch your network grow!

This one is personal.

As the Executive Director of A Million Thanks, I spend every day working to make sure our service members and veterans know their service, their sacrifices, and their lives matter.

This September, I’m asking you to join me for something especially close to my heart.

On September 17, 2023, I lost my son, SGT Dylan Holley, to su***de. Dylan served in both the Marine Corps and the Army, with his last duty station at Fort Bragg with the 82nd Airborne Division.

Dylan loved to fish. ❤️🎣

After he died, we found hundreds of photos of him fishing—before work, after work, on his lunch break, whenever he could find the time. Some of my favorite photos are of Dylan sharing that love of fishing with his daughters.

This September, during Su***de Prevention Month, we are honoring Dylan with the SGT Dylan Holley Memorial Bass Tournament.

🇺🇸 All while helping us shine a light on veteran su***de and the importance of connection.

For me, this tournament isn't simply another event on our calendar. It's an opportunity to turn something he loved into something that may help another veteran.

I would be incredibly grateful if the A Million Thanks community would help me carry Dylan's name across the country this September.

Please save the date for the 2027 NGAKS & EANGKS Joint Conference & Joint Professional Development, which will be held 16–17 April 2027 in Wichita, Kansas.

We hope you enjoyed last year’s event at Margaritaville. We are excited to again provide a great space and valuable opportunities for professional development, mentorship, and networking.

Every year, the National Guard Association of Kansas (NGAKS) brings a trading pin to the NGAUS General Conference that everyone wants to get their hands on. This year is no different!

Check out our custom 2026 pin design, pairing the ultimate Kansas icons—Dorothy and Toto—with vintage open-wheel racing style! Handfuls of these pins will be distributed to our Kansas participants to break the ice, force interaction, and kick off networking conversations.

🚨 REGISTRATION UPDATE! 🚨

We are officially 15 days out from the NGAUS General Conference in Indianapolis, and our growth has been absolutely incredible! We have used up all 40 of our initial hotel block rooms. Huge shoutout to Mary, who successfully hunted down 7 more rooms this morning!

🎉Because housing is completely full, we are FORCED TO CLOSE REGISTRATION—unless you are able to secure your own place to sleep.

We are tracking to arrive with an incredible delegation of over 60 attendees this year!
