🧠💜 Today is World Stroke Day

Every second counts when it comes to recognizing and responding to a stroke — but did you know your eyes can also reveal early warning signs?

Sudden vision loss, blurred vision, or double vision can sometimes be among the first symptoms of a stroke. As primary eye care providers, optometrists play a vital role in detecting these signs and helping patients get the urgent care they need.

This World Stroke Day, the Kansas Optometric Association encourages everyone to:
⚡ Know the warning signs of stroke (F.A.S.T. — Face drooping, Arm weakness, Speech difficulty, Time to call 911)

“One of the marvelous things about community is that it enables us to welcome and help people in a way we couldn't as individuals.” – Jean Vanier

The 2025 KOA Fall Eyecare Conference brought us together for powerful clinical education, fresh ideas, and meaningful professional growth. The real magic happened in the hallways, over coffee, and across classrooms, where each of you connected with a shared mission: elevating vision care for every Kansan.

The optometric community in Kansas isn’t just strong. It shines. Your passion, your service, and your heart for patients create a better future for eye health in our state.

From the bottom of our hearts... Thank you for showing up for one another, for our profession, and for the people who count on clear sight every day.
