Join the Book Club at 1st Congregational Church (1701 SW Collins) tonight (Monday. June 1) at 7:00 as author Craig Yorke discusses his recent book "Steep: A Black Neurosurgeon's Journey." From Amazon, "Steep traces an odyssey from a poor Boston neighborhood to a neurosurgical practice in Middle America. It's more about the price of success than the weight of bigotry - a story of resilience and self-discovery that will resonate with anyone who has wrestled with their past as they chased the American Dream." All are welcome!

TOPEKA, Kan. — May 28, 2026 — The Congregational Home, Inc. Board of Directors has appointed Tyrone Wilkens as President and Chief Executive Officer of Brewster Place, effective July 1, 2026.

Wilkens brings nearly 20 years of experience in adult care and has served as administrator of the Brewster Place Health Center since November 2025. In that role, he has quickly developed a strong understanding of Brewster Place’s mission, values, and nationally recognized programs.

Wilkens is a graduate of Kansas State University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Social Services. Throughout his career, he has remained focused on advancing quality care and fostering strong community relationships in senior living and healthcare.

Wilkens and his wife, Amy, reside in St. George, Kansas, and will celebrate 27 years of marriage this year. They have three children: Cadence, Carter, and Camry. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with family and friends, as well as camping, fishing, and golfing.

“I am honored and excited for the opportunity to serve as President and CEO of Brewster Place,” said Wilkens. “I look forward to collaborating with our dedicated staff and residents as we continue to build on Brewster Place’s outstanding legacy of compassionate service and excellence.”

Pictures from our trip to Wichita where we got to ride the merry-go-round that used to live at Boyles Joyland in Topeka! Residents were encouraged to "think young" as they climbed on the ponies. "It's been a couple of years since I've done that!"
