Ayva Boekhout is currently a student at Washburn University, where she is majoring in radiology with hopes of specializing in mammography. When she’s not studying or helping members at the YMCA, she’s cheering on the Ichabods as a member of the Washburn Cheer Team! 📣🏆

Fun fact: Ayva and her cheer team earned 2nd place at their national competition last year! 🎉

Whether she’s in class, cheering on the Bods, or welcoming members with a smile at the front desk, Ayva is an important part of our YMCA family. Be sure to say hello the next time you stop by! 👋💙

Our campers at the Topeka YMCA had a sweet time getting creative with their ice cream cone crafts! 🎨✨

The best part? Watching their creativity come to life as they cut, glued, colored, and proudly showed off their finished masterpieces! 😊🎉

We love seeing our campers learn, create, and have fun together all summer long. Check out some of these adorable ice cream cone creations and the talented artists behind them! 🍦❤️

💪✨ We were incredibly grateful to welcome hometown strongman and motivational speaker Ruben Ryan to the Topeka YMCA!

Ruben’s story is one of resilience, determination, and perseverance. After overcoming significant challenges in his life, he has gone on to become a professional strongman, using his journey to inspire others to believe in themselves and never give up. During his visit, he shared powerful lessons with our youth about the importance of discipline, hard work, and having the courage to keep moving forward, even when life gets tough.

Thank you, Ruben, for investing in the next generation and reminding our youth that they are capable of more than they can imagine. Your encouragement, energy, and example left a lasting impact on everyone who had the opportunity to hear your story.
