Delta Phi was established on Thursday evening May 14, 1925 by four visionary Omega Men; Dr. M. Drewy with the aid of the Eighth District representative and Grand Basileus George L. Initiated that same night were Professor E. Johnson, Dr. Samuel Haggard, Mack L. Ross and William A. Jones.

Born on this day in 1901, Bro. Langston Hughes was a poet, social activist, and playwright who gave voice to Black life with honesty, rhythm, and pride, becoming an early innovator of jazz poetry. As a leader of the Harlem Renaissance, he earned the title Harlem’s Poet Laureate for capturing the soul of a generation through his words. In 1926, he was initiated into the Beta Chapter of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. at Lincoln University (Pennsylvania), adding his brilliance to the Brotherhood.
