Beginning June 23, SENT Inc. is offering two supportive group classes designed to help individuals and families grow through life’s transitions, challenges, and relationships.

Whether you are working through your own story, parenting young children, or preparing to launch a graduate into adulthood, these groups are designed to provide practical tools, encouragement, and community support.

✨ Making Sense of Your Worth
A therapeutic group focused on self-worth, identity, emotional health, boundaries, and how past experiences shape our relationships and daily lives.

✨ Parenting for Positive Self-Worth
A practical parenting class focused on helping caregivers support emotional development, confidence, resilience, and healthy identity in children and teens. This upcoming group will also include support for parents navigating the transition into young adulthood during graduation season and beyond.

Mental Health & Recovery is about more than a diagnosis — it’s about how stress, trauma, relationships, and life circumstances shape our daily lives.

SENT’s Mental Health & Recovery Services support individuals and families navigating mental health challenges, substance use concerns, and major life stressors. Care is grounded in dignity, collaboration, and a person-centered approach that recognizes each individual’s unique story.

Transformation should not stay isolated. As progress is made locally, the goal is to document, measure, and share what works so other communities can learn and adapt similar approaches.

📊 Establishing evidence-based practices is central to this effort. Programs are regularly evaluated using data-driven decision-making, and collaboration with research partners strengthens long-term impact tracking. Targets include publishing studies related to the holistic model and ensuring community partners actively participate in shared data collection.

🎤 Consistent messaging and communication expand visibility and understanding. Goals include increasing donor engagement opportunities, presenting at state and national conferences, growing social media reach, and strengthening recognition of this community health model across Kansas and beyond.

🤝 Building capacity beyond Shawnee County is part of the long-term vision. The plan includes supporting additional Kansas communities and at least one community nationally in piloting elements of this holistic, place-based approach.

📈 Sharing the model responsibly ensures it evolves with learning, adapts to new challenges, and remains grounded in real community experience.

🌎 By documenting results, strengthening partnerships, and expanding knowledge, this work contributes to broader systems change while remaining rooted in neighborhood relationships.

🍊 It’s Friday!!! That means it’s Fill the Blessing Boxes day at SENT. Every Friday, SENT fills the two Blessing Boxes located on the property of Highland Park High School.

We're making sure that everyone has basic necessities like food.

Stable teachers build stable schools — and stable schools build thriving communities.

SENT is proud to launch our new Teacher Housing Stability and Retention Initiative, a bold investment in the educators who shape the future of Southeast Topeka.

For years, research has shown a powerful truth:
👉 Students learn more with experienced teachers
👉 School culture improves when staff stay long-term
👉 Neighborhoods grow stronger when educators can afford to live where they serve

But rising housing costs and limited access to affordable homes have made it harder than ever for teachers to put down roots.

We’re stepping in to change that.

Through this initiative, SENT is investing $60,000 to support twelve teachers with $5,000 each toward closing costs or a down payment on a SENT home. Teachers will also receive wraparound support through SENT’s Neighbor Advocacy, wellness programs, and community services to help them thrive as both homeowners and educators.

Participating teachers must serve at one of our partner schools — Ross Elementary, Eisenhower Middle School, Highland Park High School, Highland Park Central Elementary, or Avondale Academy — and commit to building long-term stability in the neighborhoods they love.

This initiative is more than financial assistance.
It’s an investment in equity, dignity, opportunity, and the future of Topeka’s children.

🧠 Wellness is not one-dimensional. Physical health, mental health, substance use recovery, social connection, and spiritual growth are deeply interconnected.

🏥 Increasing access to physical and mental health & recovery services is a core priority. The goal is to ensure more Shawnee County residents can access preventative and curative medical care, expand the geographic footprint of services, and contribute to measurable improvements in county health rankings.

🤝 Care coordination reduces barriers. By offering integrated services in one location and partnering across agencies, families can access what they need without delay, confusion, or fragmentation.

🏘️ A strong sense of belonging is also essential to wellness. Targets include increasing community participation, reducing neighborhood transiency, and strengthening residents’ identification with Hi-Crest as home rather than simply a place they live.

📊 Measurable outcomes include increases in preventative appointments, growth in participation in community events, and a 50 percent increase in residents’ sense of belonging and satisfaction by 2029.

📚 This work also includes establishing evidence-based practices for the holistic community health model. Programs will be continuously evaluated, data will guide decision-making, and collaboration with research partners will strengthen accountability and long-term impact.

🌎 Whole-person wellness strengthens families, reduces isolation, improves mental and physical health outcomes, and builds resilient neighborhoods across Shawnee County.
