Department of Kansas, American Legion Family Homecoming information has been released! Please see the below flier for details on this event.

There will be an auction of 3 Diamond Art Paintings that President Hensley has finished to raise funds to support the National Creative Arts Festival, a program that the American Legion Auxiliary has partnered with the VA for 26 years to showcase the talents of veterans across the country, encouraging healing for our veterans through creative art therapy programs at the VA facilities.

Please join us for an afternoon of fun, fellowship, and supporting this important program that allows our veterans to process the complex struggles obtained during service to our Great Nation. With your support, you also support 'Be the One, to Save One" by supporting a program that aids our Heroes in attaining mental health healing.

Please note that ALAMIS will be undergoing a substantial upgrade that will affect ALAMIS and the MyAuxiliary member portal. 🚧

Timeframe: ALAMIS and the member portal will be unavailable starting at noon ET June 22. ALAMIS is expected to be back up and running on July 6.

How will this upgrade impact members? During this time, membership processing, reports, or payment of dues will not be available. This means that if you call National Headquarters about your member record, we won’t be able to change anything because the system will be down for staff too.

Changes to the MyAuxiliary portal for our members will be minimal.

We’re sorry in advance for the downtime, but we know ALAMIS users will enjoy the new system — a new, more intuitive interface when they log in. 👍

Removing barriers for membership:

June 3rd the NEC voted on a change to Standing Rule XI. Units:

Section 6. Membership eligibility through the service of a living veteran may be established by presentation of a current The American Legion membership card. Membership eligibility through the service of a deceased veteran may be established by certification of the deceased veteran’s proof of military service by the post adjutant or other post officer or by the unit secretary or other unit officer. Joining online requires an affidavit of eligibility; the Unit may request a copy of the veteran’s proof of military service.

What does this change mean? The unit secretary or other unit officer may verify the eligibility of a potential member and sign the application. By expanding the options for who may review and sign membership applications, we are removing barriers and allowing the processing of membership to be more efficient. It is not a requirement that the unit review eligibility, if a unit wishes to continue to work with their legion post, they may do so.
