🚒 A Special Visit from Topeka Fire Department Engine 7! ❤️

Our friends at Avenues Day Services had an exciting visit last week from the Topeka Fire Department’s Engine 7 crew! The firefighters shared important fire safety tips, talked about fire awareness, and gave everyone a glimpse into the many different types of calls they respond to.

A huge thank-you to Engine 7 for taking the time to visit, share their knowledge, and make the day so memorable for everyone at Avenues. We had a great time, and we’re so grateful for community partners who help make learning fun! 🚒👏

Theme Thursday at Avenues Day Services! 🥨

We’re celebrating Oktoberfest all week long with plenty of fun, food, and hands-on activities! We kicked off the week with some tasty soft pretzels and learned how to tie pretzels ourselves using pipe cleaners.

We got creative making Oktoberfest-inspired coasters and put our baking skills to work creating a delicious Schwarzwälder Kirschtorte (Black Forest Cake)! From cooking and crafting to learning about German traditions, it’s been a fun-filled week of celebrating Oktoberfest! Prost!

A huge thank you to Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas for continuing to show up for TARC and Winter Wonderland! 🎄✨

Their team spent time helping us rewrap light displays as we get ready for this year’s show. They have already sent more than 30 volunteers our way this year, with even more groups scheduled to join us throughout October!

Winter Wonderland is TARC’s largest fundraiser of the year, and it simply wouldn’t be possible without the support of our community. Every volunteer hour helps us bring this beloved tradition to life while supporting TARC’s services and programs throughout the year.

Thank you, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas, for being such a wonderful part of the Winter Wonderland team!

Theme Thursday at Avenues Day Services! 🍂

We are enjoying all the sights, sounds, and activities that come with the beautiful fall season! We have had a wonderful time creating a delicious fall snack mix filled with seasonal favorites, perfect for enjoying while we soak up the rainy and crisp autumn weather. We also got creative with a fun STEM project—making our own homemade metal mirrors! It was a great opportunity to explore creativity, hands-on learning, and a little science along the way. 🍁🌧️

Winter Wonderland is seeking evening volunteer groups in November and December!

Winter Wonderland is TARC's largest fundraiser of the year, and is only possible through the help of our community. Help us make this year the brightest yet! 🎄✨

✨Seeking Volunteer Groups! ✨

TARC’s Winter Wonderland is just around the corner, and we’re looking for volunteer groups of 6–8 people to help with evening shifts!

Volunteers help keep the magic moving by assisting with traffic direction, car counting, handing out Razzle Dazzle glasses, music monitoring, and other duties throughout the evening.

🌟 Most shifts: 6–9 PM
🎄 Christmas Eve: 6–10 PM
👥 Groups of 6–8 preferred

Winter Wonderland is TARC’s largest fundraiser of the year, and every dollar raised goes directly back into providing services and support for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in our community. 💙

Bring your coworkers, friends, family, church group, club, or organization and spend an evening giving back while being part of one of Topeka’s favorite holiday traditions!

Interested in volunteering? We'd love to chat! Send us an email or fill out our volunteer form on our website.
