One of our newer members, Eleanor, recently gave her Ice Breaker Speech!

The Ice Breaker is the very first speech you give to your club as a neophyte Toastmaster. It's a great way for club members to learn more about you and begin to share feedback about the talent and potential they see in your presentation skills.

Eleanor has a wonderful way with words and storytelling. We love seeing new members jump right into the Toastmasters experience!

Our club meets in a hybrid capacity at Topeka & Shawnee County Public Library & on Zoom every Thursday from 12-1pm. We love to have guests, and we get together each week to improve our public speaking and leadership skills.

If you have any questions about Toastmasters or would like to stop by a meeting, feel free to send us a message or leave a comment!

We had a great meeting today!

Emi served as General Evaluator and was voted Best Evaluator of the meeting. Kate gave a speech about journaling and was voted Best Gestures! Kayla won our Best Table Topics Speaker votes by regaling us with a tale about a very memorable birthday cupcake incident.

The word of the day was “mantra” from our Grammarian Pradeep.

Happy birthday to Erika, our Table Topics Master of the meeting!

Every Thursday we meet at the Topeka & Shawnee County Public Library from noon to 1pm to improve our public speaking and leadership skills. We hope you’ll join us if you have personal goals in these areas!

Member Spotlight: Heartland Toastmasters Club President, Erika Stanley!

“I found the Heartland Toastmaster’s club when I was searching for a solution to a long-standing fear of public speaking. I was able to face those fears and begin to practice my presentation skills in a supportive environment, learning from other experienced speakers. My confidence grew the longer I stayed. I recently spoke at an event honoring those that were impacted by past US Indian Boarding School policies and felt more confidence with the practice and feedback I received from the club."

Our club meets every Thursday from noon to 1:00pm in a hybrid capacity - in person at the Topeka & Shawnee County Public Library (check the video boards for which 2nd floor meeting room we'll be in) and via Zoom for those who would like to join remotely.

We welcome guests to come and experience a meeting to see what you think! Our goal is to support each other as we grow our public speaking and leadership skills. Toastmasters International has an excellent education program for new members to follow; you'll gain knowledge and experience to give you confidence in interviews, meetings, social events, and public presentations.

We work hard to make each meeting fun and educational. We hope you'll join us next Thursday!

This explains why some of our club members have been in Toastmasters for decades! We continue to find value, growth, and connection in our weekly meetings.

✨ Many inspiring leaders have helped shape Toastmasters International over the years, including Helen Blanchard, DTM, who served as International President from 1985-1986. 💫 Her leadership continues to inspire us as we celebrate 100 years of Toastmasters!
