Does your teenager need service hours?

The A Million Thanks Student Ambassador Program helps young people build confidence, develop leadership skills, and create real impact in their own communities.

Dylan was in the 82nd Airborne Division! Today woukd be a great day to register for this tournament and honor a fellow paratrooper.

This one is personal.

As the Executive Director of A Million Thanks, I spend every day working to make sure our service members and veterans know their service, their sacrifices, and their lives matter.

This September, I’m asking you to join me for something especially close to my heart.

On September 17, 2023, I lost my son, SGT Dylan Holley, to su***de. Dylan served in both the Marine Corps and the Army, with his last duty station at Fort Bragg with the 82nd Airborne Division.

Dylan loved to fish. ❤️🎣

After he died, we found hundreds of photos of him fishing—before work, after work, on his lunch break, whenever he could find the time. Some of my favorite photos are of Dylan sharing that love of fishing with his daughters.

This September, during Su***de Prevention Month, we are honoring Dylan with the SGT Dylan Holley Memorial Bass Tournament.

For me, this tournament isn't simply another event on our calendar. It's an opportunity to turn something he loved into something that may help another veteran.

I would be incredibly grateful if the A Million Thanks community would help me carry Dylan's name across the country this September.

Fish with us. Form a team. Share the tournament. Invite a veteran. Challenge your fishing club.

🇺🇸 A Million Thanks proudly supports awareness of the Brandon Act and its mission to reduce barriers for service members seeking mental health care.

The Brandon Act gives service members an additional pathway to request a mental health evaluation. A service member may request a referral through a commanding officer or supervisor above E-5 for any reason, at any time, and in any environment—and they are not required to explain why they are requesting it.

That is information we believe our service members should know.

💌 That's why A Million Thanks includes Brandon Act information in our Letters From Home bundles sent to active-duty service members.

Alongside handwritten letters of gratitude and encouragement from people across America, we have an opportunity to put important information directly into the hands of the men and women serving our country.

Because supporting our military community means more than saying thank you for your service.

It means reminding them that asking for help is not weakness.

It means helping remove barriers to care.

And it means making sure they know what resources and protections are available to them.

The Pentagon has now moved to make Brandon Act protections part of permanent military mental-health policy—an important step toward ensuring these protections remain in place for future generations of service members.

At A Million Thanks, we will continue doing our small part to make sure this information reaches the people who may need it.

As we approach Memorial Day, we kindly ask that letters avoid phrases like “Happy Memorial Day.”

Memorial Day is a day of remembrance honoring the men and women who died while serving in the U.S. military. Rather than celebrating the holiday, we encourage supporters to write messages “in honor of” those who made the ultimate sacrifice.

Examples:
🇺🇸 “In honor of those who gave their lives in service to our country…”
🇺🇸 “Remembering the fallen this Memorial Day…”
🇺🇸 “Thank you to the families carrying the legacy of our fallen heroes…”

Thoughtful wording helps preserve the meaning and purpose of this important day of remembrance.
