Team Kansas just wrapped a big week in Pittsburgh at the 2026 National Truck Driving Championships, where drivers from 49 states came to compete. Every one of these professionals earned that trip the hard way, by winning a class at the Kansas Truck Driving Championship in June and by driving safe mile after safe mile to even qualify.
Congratulations to our 2026 Kansas champions:
Shawn Roth, ABF Freight, 3-Axle
Matthew Rohrer, Walmart Transportation, 4-Axle
Austin Lamp, Walmart Transportation, 5-Axle
Justin Wright, Old Dominion Freight Lines, Flatbed
Terry Covey, FedEx Freight, Sleeper Berth
April Bassett, FedEx Freight, Straight Truck
Jeff Davis, Walmart Transportation, Tank Truck
Michael Chacon, Old Dominion Freight Lines, Twins
Jarrod Holt, FedEx, Step Van
Congratulations again to Terry Covey on his First Place national title in Sleeper Berth, and to Jeff Davis on his Professional Excellence Award.
Kansas had a strong showing on the enforcement side too. Technical Trooper Tyson Oxford of the Kansas Highway Patrol (KHP) represented our state at the North American Inspectors Championship, held alongside the driving championships. Oxford brought home awards including Second Place overall in the North American Standard Level I Inspection category. That is 47 of the top inspectors in North America, and Tyson finished near the top of the whole field. Congratulations!
Thank you also to KHP Technical Trooper Nick Wright, Jason Damron of Convoy Systems, Kansas Road Team alumn and current America's Road Team captain, and Lori Borgan, KMCA's Director of Membership and Safety, for supporting our drivers.
And thank you to the families and friends who showed up in Pittsburgh. Nobody gets there alone.
Proud of every one of you. Thanks to our Kansas TDC title sponsor, Truck Center Companies, who helps make all of this possible.
