Topeka Police are asking for the community's help in locating James “JD” Damond Edwards Jr.

James is alleged to be the suspect of a shooting that occurred in the early morning hours of Saturday 9/20/2025 in the 800 block of SW Tyler. James is described as 6’1” tall and slim built. James was last seen wearing a black t-shirt and a do-rag. James should be considered armed and dangerous. If he is located, call 911 for police.

Madden has brown eyes and brown hair, 5’11” and weighs approximately 180 pounds. Reyes has been located, arrested and booked into the Shawnee County Department of Corrections on the charge of Murder in the 1st Degree.

The Topeka Police Department is attempting to locate a person of interest in a homicide that occurred on March 8, 2025, in the 2900 block of SE Fremont St. If you know the whereabouts of Robert Reyes, 49, of Topeka, or have any information about the incident, please call 911 or report anonymously to Shawnee County Crime Stoppers at 785-234-0007.
