CALLING OPHTHALMOLOGISTS, VOLUNTEERS, AND MISSION SUPPORTERS

The Andrew Dougherty Vision Foundation and the Moroccan Medical Solidarity Association are preparing for our next vision mission in Morocco, tentatively scheduled for October 23–30, 2026, to be confirmed soon!

Together, we are building more than a one-time medical mission. We are developing a connected pathway from detection to treatment through mobile diagnostics, a secure digital patient registry, coordinated care, clinical training, and measurable patient follow-up.

Our recent missions have already helped deliver:

• 1,864 ophthalmology consultations• 482 cataract surgeries• Service across four provinces• Collaboration with AMMS’s fleet of 13 mobile medical units

Now we need your help to reach more people.

We are seeking ophthalmologists, qualified eye-care professionals, medical and nonmedical volunteers, sponsors, and mission partners. Donations of every size are welcomed and can help support equipment, ophthalmic supplies, transportation, patient services, training, and mission operations.

We are honored to recognize doctor Paul Dougherty, Founder of the Andrew Dougherty Vision Foundation on being selected by the California Medical Association Board of Trustees as a recipient of the 2026 CMA Compassionate Service Award.

This distinguished honor reflects Dr. Dougherty’s lifetime of dedication to medicine, humanitarian service, and expanding access to life-changing vision care. His leadership has brought together physicians, strategic partners, advanced ophthalmic innovation, and compassionate action to restore sight and create lasting change in underserved communities worldwide.

Through the Andrew Dougherty Vision Foundation, his vision continues to guide our mission to eliminate preventable blindness worldwide by 2050 through sustainable innovation, global partnerships, medical outreach, and equitable access to quality eye care.

The ADVF Morocco Vision Mission has completed its first two days of operations in Tiddas, Morocco, and the impact is already underway.

From June 6-14th and in partnership with Vision Innovation Institute and the Association Marocaine Médicale de Solidarité (AMMS), our mission team has completed 93 sight-restoring surgeries so far.

A heartfelt thank you to our mission team: Dr. Paul Dougherty, Kal Mentak, PhD, and our extraordinary ADVF volunteer team: Jose Salas, Trew Hughes, Jessica Bledsoe, Youssef Ourkia, Antoine Gijbels, Jeanne Mailoux, and Priscila Flores.

The mission continues as we prepare to move deeper into the Atlas Mountains for the next planned surgical operations.
