📅 A test of the Non-Weather Emergency Message (NWEM) system, also known as the Civil Emergency Message (CEM) system, will be conducted in partnership with US National Weather Service Los Angeles/Oxnard this Monday, September 21st at 10:25 a.m. Pacific Time.

No action is required. The test message will include that it is a test.

📻 A NWEM is a type of public alert used to notify the public about urgent situations that are not weather-related, such as hazmat spills, gas leaks, missing persons, or other civil emergencies.

All fireworks are prohibited in unincorporated Los Angeles County.

Increased public safety and fire protection efforts will be in place throughout the Fourth of July weekend.

6/26 Prescribed Plot Burn 🔥🚒

The in coordination with MRCA and the Los Angeles Fire Department are conducting a Prescribed Plot Burn this Friday (6/26) near Santa Maria Rd. and Mulholland Rd. in the Santa Monica Mountains.

Prescribed burns are effective tools in preventing large, destructive wildfires. These planned burns are carefully managed to reduce smoke impacts and improve wildland health.

May 3rd Aerial Firefighting Training in Topanga Canyon 🚁🚒

Today, Sunday, May 3, 2026, from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., the will be performing aerial firefighting training with partner agencies at the 69 Bravo Helispot located in the Santa Monica Mountains above Topanga Canyon.

Residents are likely to see low-flying aircraft and hear activity in the area. We want to assure residents this is an important operational readiness drill.

69 Bravo is a strategic Helispot in the Santa Monica Mountains with one 10,000-gallon water tank, four 8,000-gallon dip tanks, and two ground-fill sites that support both day and nighttime aerial firefighting operations.

This location provides a critical resource to the LACoFD to protect local and surrounding communities in the event of a wildfire.
