Shared from our brothers and sisters across the lake…

Henderson County Judge Wade McKinney declared a local state of disaster earlier this week.

The declaration clarifies the restrictions on outdoor burning and the use of fireworks.

Burning trash, brush, open campfires and other outdoor activities involving combustible materials that could result in a fire are not allowed.

Outdoor cooking remains permissible.

Also, welding, cutting, and grinding can be done when:
-the wind is less than 15 mph hour,
-grass, leaves, brush, and other combustible material is cleared within a 20-foot radius,
-and a spotter with water and a pressurized delivery system remains on site until the work is completed.

The Gun Barrel City Fire Department would like to remind folks of these restrictions and that violating a burn ban is a Class C misdemeanor, which can result in a $500 fine.

Twenty-five years ago today, our nation awoke to a morning that would forever change America.

On September 11, 2001, nearly 3,000 innocent lives were taken in New York City, at the Pentagon, and aboard Flight 93. We remember every person who left home that morning and never returned.

We honor the firefighters, police officers, paramedics, military personnel, dispatchers, and ordinary Americans who ran toward danger while others were trying to escape it. Their courage showed us what service and sacrifice truly mean.

We also remember what happened afterward.

Americans stood together. Strangers helped strangers. Communities filled churches, fire stations, blood banks, and sidewalks. American flags appeared everywhere. For a time, the things that divided us seemed far less important than the things we shared.

Twenty-five years have passed. For an entire generation, 9/11 is history rather than memory. That makes our responsibility to remember even greater.

Remember the lives lost.

Remember the heroes.

Remember the families who carried an empty place at the table long after the smoke cleared.

Remember the first responders and service members whose sacrifices continued for years afterward.

Remember what it looked like when Americans stood together.

September 11, 2001.

We remember. We honor. We will never forget.

The September 11 attacks happened on Tuesday, September 11, 2001.

The first plane struck the North Tower at 8:46 a.m., and by 10:28 a.m., both Twin Towers had collapsed.

Tomorrow, September 11, 2026, marks the 25th anniversary of 9/11. 🇺🇸❤️

Never Forget — 9/11/2001.

🇺🇸 TOOL FIRE ESD 4 — WE WILL NEVER FORGET 🇺🇸

September 11, 2001.

A date that forever changed America.

That morning, 19 terrorists hijacked four passenger aircraft. Two struck the World Trade Center. One struck the Pentagon. A fourth, United Flight 93, was headed toward Washington before its passengers and crew made the courageous decision to fight back.

Nearly 3,000 innocent people never made it home that day.

Among them were 343 members of the FDNY.

When the first alarm came in, those firefighters couldn’t have known exactly what they were walking into.

They arrived at a scene unlike anything they had ever faced.

Thousands of people were trying desperately to escape the World Trade Center.

Civilians were coming down the stairwells.

Firefighters were going up.

They climbed floor after floor carrying turnout gear, SCBA and tools. They passed frightened people heading toward safety while they continued toward the fire and toward people who still needed help.

Then, at 9:59 a.m., the South Tower collapsed.

At 10:28 a.m., the North Tower followed.

343 FDNY members gave their lives.

Firefighters. Officers. Chiefs. Rescue personnel. A department chaplain.

Brothers and sisters who answered the call and never returned to their stations or families.

But September 11 wasn’t only a story about tragedy.

It was a story about courage.

On United Flight 93, ordinary passengers learned that their aircraft was going to be used as another weapon. They called their families. They said goodbye. Then they made a decision.

They fought back.

“Let’s roll.”

Their aircraft never reached Washington.

In New York, firefighters continued climbing.

Police officers continued helping people evacuate.

Paramedics treated the injured.

Strangers carried strangers.

Americans helped Americans.

There were no questions about politics.

No questions about where somebody came from.

No questions about whether helping was convenient.

Someone needed help.

So people helped.

That spirit is something the American fire service carries with us today.

Every time the tones drop, firefighters leave their families without knowing exactly what is waiting for them.

We train.

We prepare.

We put on the gear.

And when somebody needs us, we go.

Today, Tool Fire ESD 4 remembers the civilians who went to work that morning and never returned home.

We remember the passengers and crew of Flight 93 who fought back.

We remember the law-enforcement officers, paramedics and other first responders who ran toward danger.

And we especially remember our 343 FDNY brothers who answered their final alarm.

Twenty-five years have passed.

Their sacrifice has not been forgotten.

Their courage has not been forgotten.

Their families have not been forgotten.

And as long as there are firefighters willing to put on the gear and answer the call, their legacy will continue.

🇺🇸 WE WILL NEVER FORGET. 🇺🇸

343 — FOREVER REMEMBERED.

The Eve of September 11: Remembering September 10, 2001

On the evening of September 10, 2001, the New York City skyline stood quietly glowing under the night sky. People were leaving their offices late, eating dinner with family, making plans for the rest of the week, and turning in for sleep—completely unaware of how drastically the world was about to change the following morning.

September 10th represents the last quiet moments of a world that would never be the same. Today, as we look back on that final evening, we pause to honor the memory of the 2,977 lives lost, the brave first responders who rushed toward danger, and the resilience of all those affected.

May we never forget the lives taken, the heroes born, and the unity that brought us together in the days that followed.
