For those of you that are un aware we held a very important meeting last night. This meeting was the change of a new era in this office. We have spent the last three years building our local from the ground up we’ve had struggles and setbacks but I can assure you that our local is stronger than it has ever been in a very long time. We might not have big numbers but what we have is people that are dedicated to the work. I would rather have one person that works as hard as 10 than 10 people that aren’t capable of doing the work. We have amazing people in this office and within our local. Union is here to support our members and our employees alike with that please know being in the union is going to be a very unpopular thing moving forward. Last night was the first meeting where I felt the need to have more than one sergeant at arms just in case the agency stooped as low as Union busting. Although they weren’t present at the meeting last night the retaliation has already started. Yesterday morning a specific director of operations at the Army depot reached out to a former executive board member under his chain of command. That director asked that employee direct questions on duty hours about his Union involvement and his membership. That is illegal and we will not stand for it. Shortly after that I was given an email and while it doesn’t seem like an issue I assure you it is. I received through text message today notification asking me to notify my supervisor when I get into the office. For the past three years this has been done with a phone call or text message, trying to send an email out of the union office as difficult because the Internet is spotty. The agency has recently removed the printer that is afforded us into the union contract because the Internet connection is so bad the printer could never connect to the Internet. In the three years that I have been in this office that printer has successfully printed less than a dozen pieces of paper. This Internet issue is a known problem has been a known problem since I got in there. The last time we had major union involvement in anything was the OSHA complaints and violations from the agency this time last year. Shortly after that I was then told that I need to come down to the workstation every single day to check in for morning meetings, It was then moved to every Thursday. This is changes of past practice and shows a direct pattern of retaliation. Apparently the email directing this change of practice was sent at 1325 yesterday. Even before the meaning has started the agency has started with its retaliation.
There will be ULP‘s filed for these acts of aggression against Union participation.
For my members and my employees please know that the gloves are coming off.
For those members of management and the agency that feel the need to step on the backs of their employees and and try to step on the neck of the Union I have one word of advice…

Wanted to let everybody know that due to illness of two of the three executive board members we are going to postpone the meeting tonight will be providing notice of the next meeting as per bylaws it will have to be held as an “emergency meeting” we’ll have notice sent out by this weekend.

We are officially losing representational rights for our bargaining units that are not Emergency Services.
This doesn't mean that the union is gone. If you have a grievance or an issue at the agency please let us know every two weeks we will be putting together a van pool on Fridays to drive to Bountiful to file Congressional grievances with our members. It's congress's duty to have the oversight for federal agencies if the union is not allowed to do it they need to we are facilitating that and making it happen.
