Stinknet has made its presence in Gila county with Roosevelt Lake being one of our major concerns.

-Stinknet is a VERY aggressive nonnative invasive w**d from Africa
-It’s a flash fuel creating extremely hot and fast fires
-It’s caustic and when burned can cause chemical burns to the skin, eyes, and lungs
-It crowds out and displaces important native plants
-It’s highly toxic to livestock
-It spreads easily by vehicle tires, w**d whacking or improper removal

Send us a message if you would like to help STOP the STINKnet!

STOP the STINKnet!
Tonto Basin Stinknet Patrol volunteers pulled Stinknet at Bermuda Flats early this morning, focusing on areas that will receive high camper/RV traffic this Memorial Day weekend.
While we know we can’t stop it entirely, we know we can have a great impact on slowing the spread.
Think you’re too old to help?
Our youngest volunteer is 63 and our oldest is 76 years.
Message us if you want to become a part of the team. WE NEED YOU!

Our field trip to the ASU Herbarium yesterday was amazing! Not only did we see the herbarium department, but also spent time with the insects, sea shells and other critter collections.
Our chapter will be taking the summer off, but we have some exciting events planned for our new season starting this fall.
Message us your email address if you want updates! We’d love to have you join us.

The Tonto Basin Stinknet Patrol was at it again early this morning near Bouquet Ranch Road in Tonto Basin. Most likely the seeds were introduced by road machinery.

These seeds WILL continue to be dispersed by vehicle tires, cattle, horses and rain water. This area will be a HOT spot next year when the seeds germinate.

BUT, we can stop the spread IF we catch it early enough—before it flowers.

Wear gloves, pull it, bag it!
Use a sturdy plastic hole-free bag and put it in your garbage.

DO NOT w**d whack it!
DO NOT take it to the burn pit!
DO NOT burn it!
DO NOT leave in piles!

If you want to help STOP the STINKnet in Tonto Basin, send us a direct message and we will guide you.

Our youngest volunteer is 63 and our oldest is 85! Let’s go!
