We're still at it! Still recycling what we can at the Sinlahekin Fire's Incident Command Post at Chief Tonasket Park. We're on our fifth week and our third Type One Team, this latest one from the Southwest. Throughout it all, Phil Christy has been the guy on the ground, making sure that it all gets picked up, sorted, and baled efficiently and swiftly. We couldn't have done it without our amazing crew of GO volunteers, everyone stepping up to make sure all the extra work gets done. Many thanks to Phil and the rest of the GO crew!

Green Okanogan has set up our recycling baskets and bins at the Sinlahekin Fire’s Incident Command Post at Chief Tonasket Park. We make several runs a day to retrieve full baskets and bins and exchange them with empty ones. The plastic, aluminum and cardboard is then sorted, cleaned and baled back here at GO. We’ve made a lot of extra work for ourselves, but we just couldn’t stand the thought of all those recyclables ending up in the dumpster. We wanted to help out, and this is what we do best!

Meet our new employee, Elysia Nelson! Elysia will be working part-time here at GO helping us keep up with the never-ending baling and doing our cardboard pick-ups around town on Thursdays. We are super excited to have Elysia join our GO team!

Looks like it's cooling off a bit! Tomorrow, Saturday the 25th, we will be open our regular hours from 10 am to 4 pm. Come in with your recycling and then visit our super cool Go Again Thrift Store!

Another load got shipped off to Keyes Fiber in Wenatchee yesterday to be recycled and made into molded pulp packaging. Their molded packaging is used for fruit and vegetable trays, egg cartons, and beverage packaging. 36 bales of cardboard and 14 boxes of mixed paper - about 45,000 pounds. Keep it coming, folks! You bring it in, we'll bale it up and ship it out to places that will make something out of it. It's what we do!

Heat Hours Tuesday July 21st and Thursday, July 23
Looks like a heat wave coming our way this week! Green Okanogan Recycling and the GO Again Thrift Store will be open 9 am to Noon on July 21 and July 23. Sorry for the inconvenience. Just trying to keep our workers safe.
Please check the weather this summer before you come to recycle or shop. If the temperature is predicted to be 100 or above (according to accuweather.com) our hours will be from 9-12. We'll post it on our page the day before, so if it's super-hot, check before you head our way.

Looks like another hot day tomorrow, Tuesday July 14th. Accuweather is calling for 103 degrees and that's just too hot for our wonderful volunteers to be out there in the heat. We'll be working our summer heat hours and be open from 9 am to noon. See you in the morning!
