Happy Earth Day 🌎

Today is a reminder that caring for the planet and caring for people go hand in hand.

At Salt Bridge Farm, we’re working toward both—building a space rooted in sustainability, growth, and opportunity for young adults in our community.

Because when we invest in the earth, we invest in each other.

Join us on the farm for a hands-on mushroom growing experience! During this workshop, we’ll be expanding our gourmet mushroom production.

Outdoors, volunteers will help inoculate hardwood logs by inserting mushroom plugs—tiny dowels infused with mycelium—into freshly drilled holes.

Indoors, we’ll prepare sustainable grow mediums by shredding cardboard and repurposing used coffee grounds to cultivate mushrooms in a controlled environment. This is a great opportunity to learn about regenerative farming practices, low-waste food production, and the fascinating life cycle of fungi.

No prior experience is needed—just a willingness to get your hands a little dirty and have fun!

Expect:
Light drilling and hammering
Tearing and soaking cardboard
Mixing coffee grounds for substrate preparation
Learning about mushroom growing techniques
Stacking and cutting logs

First, thank you. Your willingness to show up, step outside your comfort zone, and stand in solidarity with those experiencing homelessness means more than we can express.

As we’ve worked closely with local officials to ensure we are hosting a safe and compliant event, we’ve been advised that we are not able to hold the event on-site at Salt Bridge Farm this Friday as planned.

While this isn’t the outcome we had hoped for, we respect the process and are committed to moving forward in a way that aligns with all requirements.

🌙 What’s next: Reimagining One Night on the Farm
We are not canceling—we are expanding.
Instead of gathering in one place, we are inviting you to take part in a community-wide “One Night, One Community” experience from home.
That means:
Set up a tent, sleeping bag, or simple space—your backyard, driveway, garage, or even indoors
Take time to reflect on the experience
Share your participation to help raise awareness

📸 Join the movement:
Post your experience and tag us using to help shine a light on homelessness and housing insecurity in our community.

This shift allows even more people to participate—including children, friends, family, pets, and neighbors—turning one night into a much larger movement of awareness and compassion.

We know this is a change, and we truly appreciate your flexibility and support.

What started as a small gathering now has the potential to become something even bigger—reaching far beyond one location and into our entire community.

We are so grateful to have you as part of this moment.
