You are getting this message as a veteran or caregiver of a veteran in the New Jersey area or beyond. There are a number of cool, upcoming events that you should definitely know about. First, I would like to wish all of the Marines out there a very happy 250th birthday! That makes three branches of our military that are 250 – The Army (June), The Navy (October), and the Marines! (Nov 10th, the day before Veterans Day)!
Here are some upcoming events/items that you may want to take part in.
Sunday 11/02 – Veterans Fishing Trip – Free veterans fishing trip leaving from Point Pleasant, NJ going for Striped Bass. Chartered boat specifically for veterans. If you are interested in going, please send an email to [email protected] with the following information: Name, email, Cell #, City, Zip Code, If you have a VA disability rating, and Shirt Size.
Monday 11/03 – Salute to Veterans – Wyckoff YMCA @ 11:30AM – Lunch and a guest speaker and tables that support veterans. 691 Wyckoff Avenue, Wyckoff, NJ
Friday, 11/07 – Women Veteran Symposium - This empowering event is designed for women veterans to connect, learn, and grow in key areas including education, healthcare, and small business development. The symposium will feature dynamic speakers, interactive discussions, and networking opportunities aimed at fostering personal and professional growth.
Saturday 11/08 – Veterans Music Fest at D’Jais Bar & Grill in Belmar, NJ (Monmouth County) – 7 bands playing rock and blues from 12PM – 8PM – 1800 Ocean Avenue, Belmar, NJ
Tuesday 11/11 – Veterans Day Event at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial & Museum – Guest speakers and a tribute to all veterans who have served our nation – Holmdel, NJ
Friday 11/14 – Veterans Health Fair, Luncheon, and Job Fair in Middlesex County – Woodbridge Community Center from 10AM – 2PM – Cardiovascular Checks, Sleep assessments, cancer screenings, Pulmonology Testing, Flu shots, and much more. There will also be over 30 companies on hand looking to hire veterans in various roles throughout their organizations. There will be classes on resume writing, and interviewing skills. 600 Main Street, Woodbridge, NJ (Middlesex) – Also, the best BBQ lunch you will ever have from Red White & Que BBQ.

Thursday December 11th – Veterans Networking Event – Free head shots for veterans at this event – meet with Veteran Business Owners and other veterans for a networking event to discuss opportunities in business, or elsewhere. Free professional headshots will be offered to all veterans at no cost. Location TBD and will be communicated shortly
Now through December 7th – Braven Medicare Salute No Rx PPO – For veterans 65 years and older, you can sign up for additional health coverage at a $0 Premium, that also pays you $75 every month towards your social security to be used towards medicare costs. Dental, Vision, Hearing, Specialty Care, Primary Care, and additional benefits are available for veterans who sign up. You only have until December 7th to sign up, then you have to wait an additional year for the next annual enrollment period
January 2026, Date TBD – Resilience First Aid Training for Veterans to benefit veterans mental health. This is a great 2-day seminar build for enhancing your resilience and helping others become more resilient in everyday life. A personalized assessment with your personal resilient score will be given for all perticipants. For more info on this program, please visit: https://youtu.be/1ceY5cdVQPk. We also launched NJ Veteran Magazine. The magazine is being distributed to Veterans Service Organizations in all New Jersey Counties. The electronic version can be found on our website at www.thevfa.org. If you would like a printed copy of the magazine, please reach out via email to let us know about your VFW, American Legion, DAV, MCL, JWV, or other veterans organizations and your meeting times/dates, and we will deliver copies there. Unfortunately, we cannot deliver individual copies to you personally as we don’t have the manpower to do so.
