The Displaced Homemakers Program of Ocean County provides free services to individuals who have lost their primary source of income due to separation, divorce, disability or the death of a primary family provider.

Services include career counseling, employment preparation, education and training opportunities, academic advising, supportive counseling and referrals to community resources.

Energy Assistance Day is coming to Toms River on Thursday, September 17, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Ocean County Office of Senior Services, 1005 Hooper Avenue.

Residents can receive in-person assistance exploring programs that may help with home energy costs, including the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) and Universal Service Fund (USF).

Please bring current documents, including Social Security cards for household members, proof of income for adults 18 and older, mortgage/tax bill or rental lease, and recent natural gas and electricity bills.

Autism/Intellectual & Developmental Disabilities Professionals Panel Discussion - Featuring Providers from Children’s Specialized Hospital

There are many types of medical providers and therapists who work with individuals affected by autism or other intellectual/developmental disabilities. Neurologists, psychiatrists, developmental pediatricians, occupational therapists, and speech therapists are among the most well-known. You may be familiar with these titles, but do you actually know what they do? And did you know that there are other professionals, such as physiatrists, who also provide valuable services?

During this panel discussion, each professional will present an overview of their field. You will learn how they work, the ways in which their service benefits the patient, and the intake process for new patients.

The Ocean County Board of Social Services will be available to residents at the County Connection on Sept. 15 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Professionals who are knowledgeable about the numerous programs the agency implements including General Assistance (GA), Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (TANF) and the Supplemental Nutritional Assistance Program (SNAP) will be on hand to answer questions and provide assistance.

Join us for our Kids Costume Collection and Giveaway! Do you have gently used costumes your kids can no longer wear?

The Toms River, Lakewood, Plumsted, and Tuckerton Branches are collecting kids costumes for kids up to age 11, from September 1st to September 30th, 2026.

Collected costumes will be given away for free at FanNation: The Geekstravaganza on Saturday, October 3rd.
