For Joselyn, providing for her family has always meant looking beyond her own needs. A wife, mother of two, and manufacturing plant worker, she balances a full-time job with the responsibilities of caring for her family at home and supporting her mother in El Salvador from thousands of miles away.
Both Joselyn and her husband work, but rising expenses make it challenging to keep up. The food pantry helps fill that gap by providing staples such as eggs, cereal, bread, and meat. Those groceries become the foundation for family meals, often including traditional dishes of rice, beans, and meat that connect the family to their Salvadoran roots.
Her mother, who still lives in El Salvador, suffered both a stroke and a heart attack. Joselyn describes her survival as nothing short of a miracle. As her mother’s primary source of support, Joselyn sends money regularly to help pay for medications, transportation, and other daily needs.
“I’m the only one,” she says simply.
Every dollar saved on groceries through The Hope Center allows Joselyn to direct more resources toward her mother’s care. The pantry’s assistance gives her the ability to support two generations of family members across two countries while continuing to provide for her children at home.
