As I’m sitting with close friends at Water Street enjoying their company as an early Thanksgiving get together and remembering my mother, who unfortunately just recently passed away from Neuroendocrine Cancer, a gentleman came up and asked my friends and I about donating to this cause. As a cancer survivor and someone who just recently lost a family member to cancer, I obviously wanted to know more and gave the information for my foundation. I was actually just tonight asking my friends on opinions on if my foundation was making a difference or not and if I should continue to run it or just let it fade away. I think this was sign. Please consider donating if you’re able to.

Many see Memorial Day as a holiday. The stores have sales, schools usually take the day off when it falls on a week day, BBQs are had and fireworks are set off, all as a mark that summer has unofficially begun. The truth is that Memorial Day wasn’t always that kind of holiday, though, and people lose sight of the significance behind today. Memorial Day is a day to to recognize those that fought to protect our country and unfortunately died doing so. Memorial Day is a day for current and retired military members to remember and honor their fallen comrades, for the families to remember and honor their family members that went off to protect them and their country and never made it back home, for the people behind the names on war memorials to have a light shown on them so that we can truly say, “Thank you.” However you choose to spend today, please just remember that this day isn’t meant to be a happy go-lucky holiday. The sales, BBQs, and fireworks are fun, but aren’t at all significant. Today is a day of remembrance and thanks to the fallen. Let’s honor them as we should, and not get lost in the “celebrations” of the day. And to every fallen military member, thank you for fighting along side your comrades and paying the ultimate sacrifice to keep our country safe. Today, we honor you.

Today is Father's Day, and every father out there that cares, works, sacrifices, and loves his family should be recognized for everything he does throughout the year. However, please also remember that having the same blood as someone is not a requirement for being a father, for being a dad. For some out there, their mothers might have filled the role of father. For some, a brother, a cousin, an uncle, even a grandfather could have filled the role of father. Even more than that, some may have had a coach, a teacher, a close friend, a mentor, for some there may have been that one person that unexpectedly came into their lives and ended up feeling like a father figure to them. So, today, please remember all of these people, thank them, show them that you appreciate them and everything they've done for you, and most importantly show them you love them. Today show any person in your life that filled that father figure role that you see what they do everyday for you and show them how much they mean to you. From all of us at Chris's Fight For A Cure, Happy Father's Day to every father figure out there, stay safe and healthy, and enjoy the day.

As Memorial Day weekend comes, give thanks and show gratitude to every veteran you see or know. Remember and honor all of the men and women that lost their lives while fighting for our freedom and keep in mind that although Memorial Day might seem like a happy day to have fun and party, it is ultimately a day of remembrance and gratitude to those that made the ultimate sacrifice. Chris's Fight For A Cure would like to give recognition to those who courageously gave their lives and those that fight today. Have a safe Memorial Day Weekend and help show gratitude to our veterans this weekend. ~Chris

Not even 12 hours after the results came back, Chloe was flown to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis, and the family has been there ever since.
