News out of Trenton today. I ask all of you to continue to go to the Board Of Ed meetings, and if you follow this page and and are a resident, alumni, or supporter of another district facing S2 cuts, I advise you to do the same. Keep up the good fight. If the district is eventually forced to enact cuts, do not stop, continue your calls, continue letting Trenton know we are here. And most importantly, VOTE.

The cut is $1 million more than anticipated and more than twice the amount predicted when S2 was signed in 2018.

"We offered them funding and they didn't want it". No senator, you offered the district pennies when it takes dollars to run. "Close a classroom, close a building", Senator are you aware of the crowding in the schools? Enrollment is down but its still a huge district. Close a classroom and put the burden of 40 kids onto one teacher? We would also like to know what is being "under utilized" according to the Senator. There's not 3 high schools because we felt like building them, there's 3 due to the massive size of the district. I encourage Senator Sweeney to visit any of the high schools and walk down a hallway, sit in a class. Then imagine adding another 1,000 kids to that particular school. Visit an elementary teacher and imagine the stress of 40 students. One less building, and one less classroom means an unprecedented amount of students per classroom. There's a reason there's not one Toms River High School or one Toms River Grade School anymore. Perhaps if you actually came to Toms River Board of Ed meetings you would understand why your logic is flawed. -Ken
