Went to Jake's Branch this morning and measured the height of the trees from our observing location. According to my measurements the tree line is 5° to 7° degrees above the horizon using a bubble level as the horizon.
Even though the transit starts in the morning, the Sun will be nice and high in the sky for observing the Mercury transit. 😁🔭🌞

Our Story

ASTRA's monthly meetings are held on the second Friday of each month (except for August) starting at 7:00 pm at the Ocean County College Robert J. Novins Planetarium classroom in bld. #13 Use the OCC parking lot #2, go up the ramp/steps and go to the left into the Planetarium bld. #13. OCC Campus Map: https://www.ocean.edu/content/public/about/campus-map.html We also hold several observing events “star parties” throughout the year off campus so check our events calendar for locations and dates.
