The members of FMBA Local 483 would like to congratulate Police Dispatcher Chris Rotundo on a happy and healthy retirement. Chris began his career with the Toms River Police Department in 2007 as a part-time call taker and in 2011 moved into the role of full-time police dispatcher, where he faithfully served the residents of Toms River until today. Thank you, Chris, for your dedication and service — enjoy your retirement!

Be advised, effective 12am on Friday May 22, 2026 until 12am on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, the Township Office of Emergency Management has enacted a curfew from 10pm until 5am for all juveniles, persons 17 years of age and under on the Barrier Island sections of Toms River Township.

In 1974, President Gerald Ford authorized EMS Week to celebrate EMS professionals and the important work they do in our nation's communities. National Emergency Medical Services Week brings together local communities and medical personnel to honor the dedication of those who provide the day-to-day lifesaving services of medicine's frontline.

Today, the members of Local 483 held our second annual Police Appreciation BBQ during Police Appreciation Week. This event is our way of giving back to the officers who protect and serve our community day and night, 365 days a year.

We would also like to extend a huge thank you to Luigi’s Deli for their generous donation of burgers and hot dogs, and to East Coast Sportscards for their donation of cheesesteaks. Your support helped make this event a success!

Thank you to all of our local law enforcement officers for everything you do for our community. 🇺🇸👮🍔🌭

This week, we observe National Police Week and proudly stand in support of the brave men and women in law enforcement who put their lives on the line every day to protect our communities.

National Police Week is also a time to honor the officers who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty. Their courage, service, and sacrifice will never be forgotten.

As we wrap up National Public Safety Telecommunications Week, we want to take a moment to thank dispatchers/telecommunicators everywhere for the incredible work they do every single day.
They are the calm voice in the chaos, the steady presence on the other end of the line during some of the most difficult moments. They are the first to answer the call, the ones who bring order to uncertainty, and the lifeline connecting our community to help when it’s needed most.

Thank you to everyone who took the time to show your appreciation, it truly means more than you know.

Especially thanks for the meals this week from Toms River PBA 137, TR PBA 137A, and the Toms River Police Foundation.

We couldn’t do what we do without the support of those who stand behind us, and we are beyond grateful.
