This message was one that I hoped would never have to be written.

It's with a heavy heart that I have to announce the closing of Carmelena Cares. We have run out of funds and there's no way to continue on. Sadly, we never ended up with a big donor or corporations that were willing to help. Our help came from you and those like you who gave all they could despite living week to week as most people do.

Carmelena Cares will always be a blessing in our lives and we hope we were able to accomplish what we set out to do.

Our prayers are with all who were involved, especially the children you so generously gave to.

So, many of you know the devastating loss that we here at Carmelena Cares suffered recently. My heart continues to be broken and it will be for a long, long time.

Most of who knew him and those who spoke at the memorial, mentioned how Rich did everything 100%. How he was one of the most generous guys and always giving all he had to anyone who was in need.

Well, thanks to Rich's family, they decided to ask everyone that in lieu of flowers, to please send donations to our foundation. The impact that had was, well, mind blowing.

Thank you so, so, so, very much to the following families and friends who donated in Rich's honor/memory. I can tell you 100% fact, that he would be thrilled to know how you all came through.

I'm literally welling up now and miss him dearly.

Thank you to all who continue to donate to us even when we are stuck with no golf outing since the pandemic hit.

This little honeybunch, cutie face is the reason we push on.

Without your help, we are nothing, Without your help, we would never be able to help children like our new friend here. We were able to purchase her new Rifton chair which will be a big help to support her trunk and give her comfortability throughout her day.

It's with a tremendous broken heart that we say goodbye to our dear friend Rich Harder.

My heart is so broke right now, it's impossible to convey just how much I will personally miss him.

Rich was an incredible person, friend, dad and husband. He lived his life for his family and friends and was so generous to everyone he came across.

I will never forget how he would enter our home and the first thing he'd do is kiss Carmelena hello. His heart was HUGE.

When Rich joined our board for the foundation, he immediately added a drive that we needed in a big way. He had no issues walking into any business and asking for donations of any kind and we laughed about it often.

I will always love you Rich and I'm missing you so much already 💔💔💔

Our newest friend is enjoying her new trike only because of the generosity of our friends who've managed to find the heart enough to continue to donate to us. We have made it past ten years now. Praying to be able to hold a golf outing in 2022.

Hi Everyone,
We of Carmelena Cares, Inc hope that all of you are safe and well during this historic time in our lives.

At this time we regret to have to announce the cancellation of what would have been our 10th annual golf outing. Each of us on the board came to this painful decision based on all that’s going on.

We can’t thank all of you enough for the support you’ve shown and we hope to be back up and running as soon as possible. That said, there is no way we could pull off a golf outing. Please know how grateful we are and that we are praying so hard to not only return things to normal but that all of you remain safe throughout.

Well, after a long board meeting tonight, we decided to press on and prepare for our 10th anniversary!!

While we do that, we need you to help us more than ever PLEASE!

We are looking to help families with whatever their child needs. Please keep us in mind if you know a family who can use our assistance. Its been way too quiet but we know there’s children who can use our help.

Next Tuesday December 3rd is Giving Tuesday 2019! I would like to ask you to thoughtfully consider a donation to Carmelena Cares, our non-profit that we have here and it provides children with disabilities with equipment and other necessary assistance to help them recover and improve their quality of life.
