Toms River Boy Scout Troop 59

This weekend the Troop went back in time to 1943! We journeyed to Reading PA, & The Mid Atlantic Air Museum’s 35th annual WW2 weekend. There the scouts got to see reenactments of a battle for a French Village, Bombers & Fighter flying overhead, and all sorts of other aircraft on display! They also got to see how troops lived “in the field” both Feind & Foe, as well as countless Jeeps, Tanks, and other military vehicles from the war. Don’t forget the home front & the push to support the war and finished the evening with a hanger dance full of dancers & the sounds of the 40’s! Overall the scouts enjoyed the show the weather was… well HOT 🥵, and it wouldn’t be a scouting trip without at least a little preparation! But otherwise it was a gorgeous weekend. They might have even learned a little something along the way!

Today our scouts participated in the 250th Anniversary Camporee @ Citta. Guest Speakers & Presenters gave our scouts lessons on everything from The American Revolution & Civil War, WW2 & Cold War to Radio Communications / Morse Code, Space Exploration And everything in between. Special Shout out to Mr. Fraterrigo who help plan and coordinate the Camporee, his final as a leader for Scouting America, as he will be retiring in the near future! We wish him well in that endeavor and are proud of our scouts & look forward to the direction they take us over the next 250 years! 🇺🇸🫡🇺🇸

A big thank you to Tyler Siebert of Boy Scout Troop 59 in Toms River for volunteering at the Bill Reeves Food Pantry! Tyler spent time helping stock shelves and was presented with a Certificate of Appreciation for his efforts and dedication to serving the community. 🇺🇸

This past weekend, the Troop went camping at Goose Pond SR in the Poconos! The weather was rough Saturday, but a scout is prepared! A few lessons learned on that front, but the scouts pushed though! The older scouts did COPE while the younger scouts worked on getting their Whittling Chit, Fireman Chit, & their Scout Rank & went on a couple short Hikes around the pond. Overall, the rain and cold couldn’t put a damper on another successful trip! Job well done scouts!

Busy day for the Troop today! While we had some scouts and leaders at the 244th Commemoration early this afternoon, we also had two scouts completing their 2nd Weekend at NYLT! Congratulations Michael Briggs & Nick Marone on graduating NYLT. Well done scouts!
