King Solomon Territorial Lodge No. 5 F&AM

King Solomon Territorial Lodge No. 5 F&AM Serving Tombstone since 1881. Historic Freemasonry, brotherhood, character, and tradition from the Old West to today.

06/18/2026

A saloon can offer noise, distraction, and an escape from the world for a few hours.

But Brotherhood asks something more.

It asks a man to listen, to learn, to be accountable for his actions, and to carry those lessons beyond the lodge room and into everyday life.

Freemasonry was never meant to impress the world. Its purpose has always been to improve the man.

The real work begins when the meeting ends.

What does it mean to leave something better than you found it?

Freemasonry teaches that stewardship is more than ownership. It is the responsibility to care for what has been entrusted to us—our families, our communities, our professions, and our Lodge.

A steward understands that his time is limited, but his influence may not be. The question is not what we take from the world, but what we leave behind for those who come after us.

Stewardship is more than ownership. It is the responsibility to care for what has been entrusted to us and leave it stronger for those who come after. Explore how this principle shapes Freemasonry and the men who practice it.

Most men spend their lives working to leave something behind.

A house.

A bank account.

A collection of possessions earned through years of hard work.

There is nothing wrong with those things. They are the rewards of a life well lived and responsibilities well fulfilled.

But when the years have passed and our names are spoken, few people will remember what we owned.

They will remember who we were.

They will remember whether our word meant something.

Whether we showed up when it mattered.

Whether we treated people fairly.

Whether we left those around us better than we found them.

Long after possessions change hands, character remains.

Long after wealth is spent, an example endures.

The greatest thing a man can leave behind is not what he accumulated.

It is the life he lived.

Today we honor the American flag and the principles it represents.

For generations, Freemasons have encouraged men to be good citizens, support their communities, respect lawful authority, and leave the world better than they found it.

Flag Day is a reminder that freedom carries responsibility. The strength of a nation is found not only in its institutions, but in the character of the people who serve their families, neighbors, and communities each day.

From King Solomon Territorial Lodge No. 5 in Tombstone, Arizona, we wish everyone a meaningful Flag Day.

🇺🇸 Honor.
🇺🇸 Duty.
🇺🇸 Service.

Most people will never know the burdens a good man helps carry.

They will never see the phone call made to a Brother who is struggling. They will never know who quietly paid a bill, offered a ride, mentored a young man, checked on a widow, or showed up when someone needed help.

That is the nature of stewardship.

A steward does not ask, “What can I gain from this?”

A steward asks, “What has been entrusted to my care?”

Freemasonry teaches us that we are temporary custodians of something greater than ourselves. We inherit lessons, traditions, responsibilities, and opportunities from those who came before us. Our duty is not to possess them, but to preserve them, improve them, and pass them on.

The strongest Lodges are not built by men seeking recognition. They are built by men willing to serve.

Not for credit.

Not for applause.

Not for attention.

Simply because it is the right thing to do.

The world may never know what he did for that man.

The point is that he did.

Most people will never know the quiet acts that shape a community.

The helping hand offered when no one is watching.

The lesson shared with a younger man.

The encouragement given during a difficult season.

The time spent serving others without expecting recognition in return.

Freemasonry has never been about applause. It has always been about character.

Not what a man says.

Not what he claims.

But what he does when there is nothing to gain.

In Tombstone, as in every generation, the true work is found in the everyday choices to help, serve, and improve ourselves so we can better serve those around us.

That work continues today.

What happens after a man contacts a Masonic Lodge?

Many people assume the next step is paperwork, ceremonies, or immediate membership.

The reality is usually much simpler.

Before any petition is signed, there is often a conversation. A chance to meet the men, ask questions, learn about the Lodge, and decide whether Freemasonry is even the right path for you.

At King Solomon Territorial Lodge No. 5 in Tombstone, Arizona, we believe a man should understand what he is approaching before making any commitment.

Freemasonry is not about recruiting. It is about finding good men, answering honest questions, and allowing each man to make his own decision.

Fear thrives in darkness.

Rumors spread easily because they require little effort. Truth requires curiosity, study, and the willingness to ask questions.

For nearly a century and a half, Freemasons in Tombstone have met openly, preserved history, supported their community, and worked to improve themselves and those around them.

Knowledge does not fear examination.

The more we learn, the less room there is for misunderstanding.

Seek knowledge. Not rumors.

For generations, men were told:

“To be one, ask one.”

Simple enough.

But what happens when you don’t know a Mason?

We live in the most connected society in history. We can find almost anything with a few keystrokes, yet many men who are curious about Freemasonry still struggle to find someone to talk to.

Did Freemasonry disappear?

No.

The Lodge still stands.
The work continues.
The lessons remain the same.

Perhaps the real question is not where Freemasonry went.

Perhaps the question is whether we still recognize it when we see it.
