Memorial Brick Presentation

The Tomball Lions Club purchased a memorial brick at Texas Lions Camp to honor Allen Eckhardt. The family also received a smaller commemorative brick as a keepsake. Lion David Cochran presented the commemorative Brick to Norma Eckhardt (Wife of Fallen Lion Allen Eckhardt). At Texas Lions Camp, memory bricks are placed in the amphitheater and may be dedicated in honor of a family member or friend.

Tomball High School

The Tomball Lions Club presented two $1,000.00 scholarships to students at Tomball High School's Senior Awards and Scholarship Ceremony on April 28, 2026. These scholarships will be used for each student’s post-secondary education. The Tomball Lions Club congratulates our 2026 scholarship recipients and wishes them the best as they pursue their advanced studies.

Lion Mike Halbach introduced guest speaker Bob Gebhard. Bob presented an informative slide presentation on Honor Flight Houston. Honor Flight Houston honors all veterans by flying WWII, Korean, Vietnam, and Cold War veterans to Washington, DC, to visit their memorials. There are 3-4 flights a year, with about 20-25 veterans on each flight. A Guardian accompanies each veteran. The cost to send a veteran is $750. Following the meeting, the Tomball Lions Club presented a donation of $1,400 to Honor Flight Houston.

The Tomball Lions Club meets on the 4th Friday of the month from 12 Noon to 1:00 PM in the Banquet Room at Martha's Mexican Restaurant & Grill, 1025 Alma St. in Tomball. Visitors are always welcome and invited to join our Club and "serve the Tomball Community".

Guest speaker at the Tomball Lions Club meeting on Friday, April 24th, will be Bob Gebhard who will discuss Honor Flight Houston. Honor Flight Houston honors all veterans by flying WWII, Korean, Vietnam, and Cold War veterans to Washington, DC to visit their memorials.

Bob Gebhard is a proud US Navy Vietnam Veteran, having served from 1965-1968 aboard the USS Harwood DD861. Upon leaving the Navy Bob spent the next 50 years in Banking business. Bob retired as the Executive Vice President at Texas Citizens Bank in Pasadena which he helped start in 2006.

He has been a Rotarian for 33 years serving as President of the Pasadena South Rotary Club in 1996 Served as District Governor District 5890 2013- 2014. Bob is currently a member and co-founder of the Rotary Club of Greater Houston Veterans. Bob received the Rotary International Service Above Self Award. He and his wife Dianne are Major Donors, White Society members and Bequest Society Members.

He also is the Chair for the 50th Anniversary of the Viet Nam War Commemoration representing District 5890. Bob has been able to recognize over 800 fellow Viet Nam Veterans. Bob placed in the top 15% nationwide in distributing the special 50th Anniversary Pin.
Bob has found his passion helping his fellow Veterans.

He is also an active member of the Vietnam Veterans of America, in Baytown, the American Legion in Pasadena, and the VFW. Bob Serves on the board for Southeast Texas Heros.

Bob was recently appointed as an Admiral in the Texas Navy. He is also an Ambassador with Honor Flight Houston
Bob and wife Dianne have been married 45 years. They have a daughter Debra and 4 grandchildren, who lives in Farragut, TN with her husband JD Rice.

Introduction of Guests: Lion Mike Halbach Introduced Speaker Past District Governor Lisa Free-Martin who discussed the Lions District 2-S2 ALERT Program.

Goals of the ALERT Program:

“Basic Awareness Campaign” to help our clubs, members and families understand basic preparedness needs.

Build out and maintain a mobile “Community Care Center” trailer to support our District’s clubs and communities following a disaster.

Develop an “Advanced Preparedness Academy” for continued preparedness education.

Educate our Lions on the basics of taking care of their families before a disaster occurs with tools to help build a plan, a basic supply checklist, resources for obtaining supplies as well as how to store your items and equipment. Making it simple to survive is a must!
Our current needs include a commercial storage facility to accommodate three trailers that comprise our mobile Community Care Center, funding for replenishment and growth and volunteers.

Speaker PDG Lisa Free Martin - Guest speaker at the Tomball Lions Club meeting on Friday, January 23rd, will be Lion Lisa Free-Martin who will discuss the Lions District 2-S2 ALERT Program.
Past District Governor Lisa Free-Martin became a Lion in 1994 with the Magnolia Lions Club, proudly following in the footsteps of her father, Lion Donald Free, as a second-generation Lion. Since joining, she has served her home club in every capacity and was honored with the Lion of the Year Award for her dedication and leadership.
Lisa served two years as the District 2-S2 Elected Camp Director, earning the prestigious 100% Director Award—one of the honors she is most proud to have earned. She went on to serve as District Governor for District 2-S2 in 2021–2022, as well as Vice Council Chair closing out her year with over 100 net new members in her district. Following her DG term, PDG Lisa dedicated three years as the MD-2 Global Leadership Team Coordinator, helping develop and support Lions leaders across multiple districts.
She is a Progressive Melvin Jones Fellow, a Progressive Jack Wiech Fellow, and a Life Member of Texas Lions Camp. In addition, she has been recognized by Lions Clubs International with International Presidents Certificates and Medals for her outstanding service and leadership
Lisa has been married for 18 years to Lion Bob Martin, who currently serves as Second Vice District Governor for District 2-S2. Together they share a beautiful family of seven children, nineteen and a half grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.
When she isn’t serving Lions, Lisa can often be found deer hunting or tending to her vegetable garden—two passions that reflect her love of nature, hard work, and providing for those she loves.

Directors Erin & Sheri Percell

Erin & Sheri Percell moved to Tomball in 2015, when Erin’s job with Exxon Mobil transferred him to Houston from Baton Rouge. They incorporated Shared Loads in 2018 and put their faith into action by assisting the needy in the local area, as well as encouraging their friends to become personally involved in benevolent work. They have been hosting monthly “Laundry Love” events in Tomball for over 7 years.
Tomball Lion Treasurer Al Gerhardt Presented the Annual Fund Allocation Check of $1,500 to Erin & Sheri Percell, Directors of “Laundry Love / Shared Loads”. They use the money to get quarters to be used at the Washeteria in Tomball, Texas. Erin & Sheri said that the money will change the lives of 120 families.
