The Tomahawk STAR Foundation is proud to award a $2,000 grant to the Knight Owls Snowmobile Club to assist with the purchase of new equipment to help maintain and improve our local snowmobile trails.

The Knight Owls play a vital role in keeping our trail system safe, accessible, and enjoyable for both residents and visitors. Their volunteers dedicate countless hours to grooming, maintenance, and stewardship, helping support winter tourism and outdoor recreation in our Northwoods community.

We also appreciate the club’s participation in this year’s STAR Splash fundraiser. Thanks to strong community support, additional funds raised will further benefit the Knight Owls and their trail efforts.

Thank you to the Knight Owls for all you do to keep Tomahawk moving all winter long!

Tomahawk STAR Foundation Awards $750 Grant to Islands of Brilliance!

We’re proud to support Islands of Brilliance (IOB) and their Tomahawk Fellowship Program, which provides creative, technology-based workshops for autistic young adults in our community.

Meeting twice a month at the Tomahawk Public Library, participants build confidence, connect with peers, and develop valuable skills through art and digital creativity. Beyond personal growth, they also give back, creating cards for a local group home and decorating coffee sleeves to brighten customers’ days.

Programs like IOB are especially meaningful in rural communities where inclusive spaces and resources for neurodivergent young adults are limited.

Thank you to Kendra and Deb for your dedication to making Tomahawk a more connected, supportive community!

The STAR Foundation is pleased to award a $500 grant to the Tomahawk Area Historical Society to support the printing of the popular children’s activity booklet, Tomahawk Time Travelers.

Created by local author and illustrator Colleen McCluskey, Tomahawk Time Travelers brings Tomahawk’s history to life through interactive puzzles, riddles, and engaging storytelling. The booklet follows a group of characters as they travel through time, learning about key moments in Tomahawk’s past while also discovering interesting facts about the community today.

The grant will allow the Tomahawk Area Historical Society to print additional copies of the booklet, which is used as part of the Historical Society’s educational outreach efforts. Each year, Tomahawk Area Historical Society hosts museum tours for third-grade students from Tomahawk Elementary School, with every student receiving a copy of the booklet. The booklets are also made available to museum visitors and families, encouraging learning and exploration across generations.

The Tomahawk STAR Foundation is proud to support projects that promote education, preserve local history, and strengthen community connections. This grant helps ensure that young learners and families continue to have access to creative, locally developed resources that celebrate Tomahawk’s heritage.

What an incredible night! Thank you to everyone who joined us for this year’s Best Burger in Paradise event. The competition was tough, the burgers were amazing, and the community spirit was unbeatable, exactly what makes Tomahawk so special.
