Did you all know that bocce was a favorite game of the following famous people: the Roman Emperor Augustus, Leonardo Da Vinci, Galileo, and George Washington?!!!

Me neither - but I can guarantee you if any of these fellows showed up to the annual tourney on Sunday, September 6th - they are getting a special prize!!!

He forgot the 4th and best class of people - those who play bocce - because they see their friends and family, they are shown the way to Toluca and a long standing tradition, they do not see any obstacles to winning and they know they are going to have a fantastic time.

As we are members of the Toluca Labor Day Future Committee, we have both the annual drawdown tickets available for our annual Labor Day Festivities and we also have a few tickets left of the all new, all inclusive Cancun trip available.

This year I also happen to be the president of the Toluca Labor Day Future Committee. Dan, my partner in crime is also playing a bigger role in the committee this year. We have had a few ups and downs with the yearly planning and management of the upcoming festival but we have a great volunteer team that is truly committed to delivering a fun experience for the whole community.

We are very excited that - the 2026 weekend will take place with all the traditional events that you are used to seeing; including a new carnival. So you will have a fun experience when you are in town playing bocce. By the way this new carnival may open up a few hours earlier on Sunday this year. We have 24 weeks until the annual bocce tournament.

Due to popular demand …

We will run our best tshirt slogan contest again.

We will give out a 1st & 2nd place prize for the best designed shirts.

We are also going to come up with two other “contests” similar to last years ‘oldest player’ and ‘furthest travelers’.

We would like to give a huge shout out to Judith Schwiderski Dallinger for her donation of 6 additional world famous wooden chalice and bocce ball trophies. These were lovingly made by her father Bud Schwiderski and shared with my father, Coach Chuck Rolinski many many years ago to be used in recognition of the winners.

Mary has strong ties to Toluca and has been a great supporter of Chuck Rolinksi Memorial Bocce Tournament. Bud - her father was extremely skilled. We so appreciate the donation

This is truly the only sport where measuring, holding and touching someone else's balls is acceptable.

Bocce is not just a game, it’s a way of life…specifically, a slow, relaxed life.

That is a key aspect to note regarding the matches. Some games take 30 minutes and some take 2 hours. Every year we have teams waiting - some waiting patiently and some not so patiently.

It can take some gettting used to when you finish your game quickly and your next opponent plays in their respective match for another hour.

So like life - every bocce match moves at its own pace and takes its time. We hope you enjoy the time and the matches that life gives you.

It might seem like a long ways, away - but the annual Chuck Rolinski Memorial Bocce tournament is a mere 6 months and a few days away. To be more specific it is 200 days away!

So you have some time to practice up and be the 2026 Chuck Rolinski Bocce Champions.

We hope to have some exciting news about new trophies for next year.

We know there are many football great football teams, fans and rivalries!

But who wins the BIG GAME tonight?

Da’Bears or the puny packers?!
Can you tell who the bocce crew is rooting for?

We are hearing of some crazy bets…you?
1. Loser gets team mascot shaved on back of head by person who won bet.
2. Loser gets fingernails painted like Caleb!
3. Worst one I heard - loser has to get a tattoo of their arch enemy team name on shoulder!

Welcome to another year of celebrating the great game of bocce and playing in the annual tournament in Toluca, Illinois.

We have already been preparing with thoughts on new trophies and some extra fun little prizes. We are exploring additional history and facts to share from the bocce archives.
We found a box in Coach Chuck Rolinski's old office archives of some pictures of the past and we will be digitizing them and posting them here.

The tournament will be on September 6, 2026.
